"For example, most often people use wooden hangers, thinking an expensive hanger is better but useless because there is not enough space," he told 9honey Living.

"It looks completely different if you decorate your closet in a more minimalist way. I use velvet hangers, very simple, very cheap. There are 30 hangers for $10 at Kmart; Your closet will look much more functional and even more aesthetically pleasing if you swap them out."

"But people think, 'Oh, it's an expensive hanger and it's good,' and it looks great, but it's just for showrooms and not suitable for everyday wardrobe."

Using the same stylish hangers throughout your closet isn't Njegovan's only advice, but to truly understand why customers keep and continue buying their clothes, you need to ask yourself a few questions, she says.

"We find value in what we have, in the way we look, in what we wear, in the car we drive. This leads to us not knowing who we are," he explains.

When Njegovan organizes a wardrobe, her approach "depends on where the client is in their journey," as some people find it harder to let go than others.

"So I have to tread very carefully with these customers because there are a lot of memories of them buying it when they were in [a certain stage of their life]," he says.

Tips and tricks to organize and do everything quickly and easily

However, practical things for Njegovan to consider include how long it has been since you last wore an item of clothing and whether you are keeping a stained item of clothing that you have never tried to repair.

"You have to make a decision," he says. "If I say you have to make a decision… you have to get rid of it, that basically doesn't do you any good."

"That's why I have to give examples straight away so that people can make a decision straight away."

Once you've cleaned out your closet, Njegovan says you need to consider your lifestyle and the frequency with which you need certain items of clothing to reorganize it to keep it organized.

"It's planned separately for each style, so I don't have anything easy that I can just tell people: I know the person, I know their lifestyle, how much time do you spend in the gym, where should the gym clothes be? Are you a company? Are you an artist? Whatever you are, we configure the wardrobe based on your current lifestyle," he says.

Once you're done, add labels and consider storing out-of-season items on the top shelf of your closet in a basket that you can swap out as needed.

Reddit user's 'embarrassing' ChatGPT cleanup tip turns out to be brilliant; That's how it works

Reddit user's 'embarrassing' ChatGPT cleanup tip turns out to be brilliant; That's how it works
We all know that feeling: we see a messy room and feel completely overwhelmed at the thought of cleaning it up. Whether it's dishes piled up or clothes scattered on the floor, it can be difficult to find the motivation to start. But one person has come up with a creative solution to accomplish this task, and it's something we're all familiar with: artificial intelligence. This method has created a buzz online and people are impressed by its simplicity and effectiveness.
A creative cleaning trick that attracts people's attention.
Recently, a Reddit user shared a clever (and "slightly embarrassing") way to use ChatGPT to keep your apartment clean. Overwhelmed with work and life, he admitted that cleaning had been at the bottom of his to-do list. Instead of allowing the situation to get worse, he turned to the AI for help. By uploading photos of her messy rooms to ChatGPT and requesting specific cleaning instructions, she was able to break the task down into manageable steps.
Representative image

"I've been too lazy to clean my apartment (and have been for a while, I mean more than a little while)," he confessed, admitting that seeing clear step-by-step instructions helped him do something about it. Although the solution worked, he was a little uncomfortable relying on AI for such a simple task: "I feel like I should do it myself." »
Why the internet thinks this idea is brilliant
Although the Reddit user found his hack embarrassing, others saw it as a great way to tackle an otherwise overwhelming task. Many commenters praised her approach, acknowledging that cleaning can sometimes be too overwhelming to begin with. One user commented: "This is a fantastic use of ChatGPT. I look at the damage (even the smallest) and feel overwhelmed. This sentiment resonated with many and highlighted how easy it is to feel paralyzed by a disorder, even if it is not that severe.
Representative image

Other users praised the idea of breaking tasks down into smaller steps. One wrote: "It's not embarrassing at all. Breaking tedious tasks into smaller steps is a smart and effective strategy, and you've found a really creative way to do it. What matters is not that the task seems "trivial" or the support you previously needed, but that you have recognized that things are more difficult at the moment and have found a constructive way to move forward.
The idea of tackling tasks step by step is something that many people can relate to. As another user said: "It's actually a smart idea. Sometimes you just need to make a difficult task a little easier to get started.
Small steps, big results
Representative image

This story is a perfect reminder that sometimes the most effective solutions to life's daily challenges are the simplest. Reddit users' creative use of ChatGPT has sparked discussions about how splitting tasks and asking for help, whether from AI or another source, can make difficult tasks easier to complete. So next time you're staring at a messy room or feeling overwhelmed by a long to-do list, remember that even the most important tasks can be accomplished if you take them one step at a time.
This "embarrassing" cleaning tip could be the inspiration we all need to tackle our own challenges, big or small, with a little help from technology.

Regardless of your planting zone, these tips can make your garden beautiful this season

  • Spring is the time to begin planning and preparing for the upcoming growing season, even in colder climates.
  • Spring cleanup of gardens involves cutting off dead foliage, but leaving some stems for beneficial insects.
  • Testing the soil and adding the necessary nutrients are crucial steps in preparing for a successful growing season.

Temperatures may still be cool across much of the United States, but it's time to prepare for your growing season plans.

According to the National Gardening Association , gardening is a growing trend (no pun intended) in the United States, with more than 80% of households participating.

Lawn care is the most important gardening chore, but planting flowers, vegetables, and houseplants (all good spring garden projects) have increased in popularity in recent years.

"Spring is the time when gardeners get their seeds, start transplanting and prepare vegetable beds," said Dave Whitinger, executive director of the National Gardening Association.

If you want to grow vegetables or plant flowers this year, now is the time to act. Even die-hard garden lovers need to prepare for spring.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for spring.

What is your planting area? A great garden starts with knowing your garden area. These cards will help you

Flowers are displayed at stalls during the Sudan Horticultural Association's 2023 annual flower exhibition at the botanical garden in al-Muqrin district in Khartoum on March 6, 2023.

Seeds: Grow or plant them this spring

Many gardeners expect to spend more this year, according to a survey by Axiom Marketing, a Minneapolis-based marketing firm that serves the agriculture, horticulture and landscaping industries. The 2025 Garden Outlook Study found that around 40% expect to spend more.

To save money, many gardeners start with seeds to grow plants that they can transplant instead of purchasing them from a garden center or a large retailer such as Home Depot.

"Depending on where people live, they are currently thinking about preparing their gardens for potato growing, perhaps planting seeds in trays to transplant later, planning their gardening activities for the year, or learning new gardening topics through reading, listening or webinars," said Cheryl Boyer, professor and extension program director in the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources at Kansas State University.

Flowers and vegetables such as tomatoes, lettuce and peppers can be grown from seeds indoors. Ideally, you should start six weeks before the expected last frost date where you live.

Tomatoes and cucumbers from a garden.

There are many variables when growing plants indoors, including the type of plant, its hardiness, the container to use, and the planting mix. For advice on individual plants, from arugula to zucchini, see the plant database on the National Gardening Association website .

You can also check your state's extension service website, usually affiliated with a university, for local planting tips (just search for your state's extension service online). For example , West Virginia University Extension has a detailed section on starting seeds.

Many of the plants grown from seed were scheduled to be planted last month, with transplanting beginning in April. Therefore, you may want to set a calendar reminder for next year. However, according to the NGA website, some plants such as lettuce can be sown directly into the garden once the ground has thawed.

According to the NGA, seeds for summer plants such as pumpkins , cucumbers and sunflowers can be planted in the ground as early as mid-April.

When growing flowers from seeds indoors, you can prepare them for transplanting by placing them outdoors during the hottest times of the day.

A bee sits on a purple flower in a perennial garden at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx borough of New York on November 14, 2016.

When do you start planting a garden?

You can find out when it's time to plant outside by visiting the National Gardening Association website and entering your zip code. In Kansas, for example, the frost-free growing season begins April 19 and ends October 11, according to the website.

It is not necessary to wait until the threat of frost has passed before planting vegetables and other crops. "Spring is the season to grow cool-weather vegetables," such as beets, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, lettuce, onions and turnips, said Miri Talabac, horticulture specialist at the University of Maryland Extension Home and Garden Information Center.

It's also good to plant hardy plants like perennials (think asters, delphiniums and pansies) as well as shrubs, trees and vines in early spring, he told USA TODAY in an email exchange. You can plant them "whenever the soil is usable (i.e. not frozen or too wet)," explains Talabac. "Only frost-sensitive plants such as greenhouse-grown herbs and warm-season annuals (flowers and ornamental vegetables such as tomatoes) should wait until temperatures (air and soil) are warmer."

Less hardy plants should be buried in the ground as soon as the danger of frost has passed. ( For more information, see these planting zone maps for each region of the United States .)

Spring cleaning for your garden

If you already have a garden or outdoor area where you have grown plants, shrubs and flowers, you can do a little tidying up and prepare to return. But don't overdo it.

"We advise gardeners not to over-clean in the spring and to prune old perennial trunks and shrub branches," Talabac said in an email exchange. "This is primarily because several beneficial insects (including some of our native bees) can use these plant parts as shelter for the winter and do not resume activity until later in the year."

When cutting off dead plant stems and flowers, leave between 20cm and 60cm of space, depending on the plant. These stems will remain hidden behind the flowers this year and will continue to be a possible refuge for bees and other beneficial insects that emerge as temperatures rise. For more information, Talabac recommends the Tufts Pollinator Initiative and Xerces Society websites.

In flower beds you can rake, trim foliage and remove winter mulch. If there are excess full leaves, you can remove them as the planting and growing season approaches.

You can prune rose bushes, fruit trees, and most other trees, but postpone pruning birch, maple, and walnut trees until they bloom and plant new trees. Additionally, fertilize and add new mulch to a depth of 4 inches, but avoid creating "mulch volcanoes" where 1 foot or more of mulch wraps around the trunk.

These suggestions come from the Kansas State Research and Extension website. "Each state's extension service will likely provide a gardening calendar on its website for activities that people think of each week of the year," Boyer said.

You may want to do a soil test. DIY kits are available or you can send samples to a laboratory (your local extension service may recommend one). Knowing the composition of your soil can help you determine what fertilizers or other nutrients you should add. For garden enthusiasts this time of year, there is "a lot of soil prep, seed prep, pruning and tool prep," Boyer said.

When you get there, don't forget to consider where you live. "Southern states may already be past their frost dates and are busy with all sorts of planting projects," Boyer said. "The northern states are still in the dream catalog and drool phase of gardening."

FEMA Offers Tips for Returning Home Safely After a Disaster | WKLW 94.7FM

Residents who have evacuated their homes should take precautions in case the home was damaged. Please note that the structure may be weakened or contaminated by mold or sewage, resulting in health risks.

Be aware of the dangers

outside the house

  • Before entering your home, check the outside for damaged electrical and gas lines, cracks in the foundation, and other external damage. It may be too dangerous to enter the home until an inspector has checked it out.
  • Turn off major electrical and water systems until you or a professional can ensure they are safe. NEVER turn the device on or off or use any tools or electrical appliances while in the water.
  • Smell the gas. If you smell natural gas or propane or hear a hissing noise, exit the vehicle immediately and call the fire department.
  • Check the ceiling and floor for signs of sagging. Water trapped in the ceiling or floor can be dangerous to enter.
  • Be aware of rodents, snakes, insects and other animals that may be on your property or in your home.

inside the house

  • If your home flooded due to the disaster or has high humidity, expect mold to form. Exposure to mold can increase health risks for survivors with asthma, allergies or other respiratory problems.
  • Open doors and windows. If the house has been closed for more than 48 hours, let the house air out before staying indoors for a long time.
  • For instructions on cleaning mold-infested areas, see the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) resources.
  • Wear protective clothing, including gloves and rubber boots.

If in doubt, throw it away.

  • Throw away items that absorb water and cannot be cleaned or disinfected (e.g., mattresses, carpets, cosmetics, stuffed animals, and baby toys).
  • Remove all drywall and insulation that has come into contact with flood water.
  • Be careful when moving furniture or debris as they may be wet and heavier.
  • Throw away all food, drinks, and medications that are exposed to flooding and mud, including canned goods and sealed containers of food or liquids.
  • outside the house

cleaning

  • Thoroughly clean hard surfaces (e.g. floors, counters, and equipment) with warm water and soap or detergent.
  • Some solutions can produce toxic fumes and other hazards when mixed. If you smell a strong odor or your eyes water from chemical fumes or mixtures, open a window and leave your home.

Before making any repairs or modifications, check with your local building authority to see if a permit is required. For a detailed overview of safety precautions and cleaning methods, visit the CDC website at Safely Cleaning After a Disaster .

How to Remove Stains from Clothes: Five Tips You Need in Your Life | Express.es

Blood, sweat and vomit are some of the most difficult and common stains that thousands of people deal with every day when dealing with clothing .

But TikTok cleaning expert Roo, who goes by @rooshome on the social media platform, is now sharing her top tips for avoiding headaches when clothes and linens pile up .

Roo has teamed up with new advice platform Cleanipedia to help anyone who needs quick, reliable advice on how to get rid of a pesky stain .

She said, "Whether it's a razor cut you didn't notice before bed, Mother Nature making her presence known, or a storm of sweat in your sports team's armpits... blood, sweat and everything in between is just a part of life."

"Fortunately, that doesn't mean you have to throw away every item of clothing with suspicious stains. Here are five tips for washing the clothes you need in your life."

READ MORE: "I'm a Cleaning Expert: These Two Kitchen Ingredients Work Wonders on Oven Stains"

How to remove gum or glue from clothing:

If your clothes have sticky stains like gum or glue , don't just throw them in the washing machine. This could cause the gum to melt and spread to other clothing.

Instead, cool it down first by adding a bag of ice cubes or putting everything in a freezer bag and putting it in the freezer for a while. Then carefully scrape off any sticky residue with a butter knife.

Before washing, treat the area with white vinegar and then wash cold with your usual laundry detergent.

How to remove blood stains:

You should always rinse the stain with cold water first (not hot water, otherwise the stain may become even harder). Pre-treat the stain with detergent and put it in the washing machine on cold water.

Cold is worth its weight in gold for removing blood, and most stains disappear with one wash. However, if there are still stains, repeat the process.

This is how your socks always stay fresh:

Revitalize your dull, sweaty socks and fight the bacteria hidden within by placing them in a bucket or sink with warm water and a generous squeeze of lemon juice and letting them soak overnight.

Before applying detergent directly to stubborn stains, wring out your socks and wash them in cold water.

The acidity of lemons is a natural whitening agent and will make your white socks look fresh again.

I cleaned my dirty socks with a cheap ingredient and now they look like new again

Keeping socks clean is one of the most annoying tasks in life. Even if you keep your house and floors reasonably clean, socks can still get dirty and aren't always as easy to restore.

And that's before you even think about white socks that have turned gray or faded over time. Of course, it would be easy to throw them away and buy new pairs, but we're in a cost of living crisis , so it's good to take matters into your own hands. I decided to stop putting off this task and finally try out a popular cleaning tip for my stained socks using just one simple ingredient .

I went to the nearest Asda and bought a large bag of soda crystals from the cleaning aisle, which cost me a whopping £2. I've never used them for cleaning, but they have so many uses, from cleaning the washing machine to degreasing pots and pans.

Although they do not contain bleach, they are also said to be excellent at removing stains. At least that's what fans of Mrs. Hinch say, and they're rarely wrong. Baking soda crystals are also being hailed as a way to soften clothes, and for someone who doesn't own a dryer, the idea was immediately very appealing.

So, armed with my dirty socks, I followed his instructions and filled a large container with hot water before adding my socks and a cup of soda crystals.

When it started to look like a menacing soup, I left the soda crystals on for about two hours. Professionals recommend leaving it on overnight, but since I was racing against time, I had to use it for a few hours.

Once the time was up, I carefully drained the water from the container and put the socks in the washing machine with regular detergent and an extra helping of baking soda crystals in the drum, just for good measure. They actually looked worse at this point, I think because they were soaked, so I was really hoping the washing machine would do its thing.

Luckily I didn't have to worry as they came out transformed after a wash at 30°C.

The stubborn stains disappeared and the socks looked much whiter and brighter, as if I had bought them new.

I don't think the soda crystals softened them, but it may take a few washes for that to happen.

Either way, I'll be using them in every white laundry room from now on and can't wait to see what other cleaning jobs around the house can benefit from this simple and affordable product.

Should you use the porcelain and crystal setting on your dishwasher? - Life in the South

Whether it's about brands of mayonnaise or enjoying deviled eggs, there are certain topics that can excite Southerners. We recently reached out to our audience on social media and asked them about their dishwashing habits and whether it was safe to put china, silver, and crystal in the dishwasher. Nearly 300 of you weighed in and since we didn't have a clear answer, we turned to the experts. They will help us (and you!) move closer to a consensus below.

Meet the experts

Soft vs. Normal cycles

Dishwashers have multiple settings, but if you're like me, you always use the same one. In fact, it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I was aware that my dishwasher had different settings. Kit Webb, sales representative for Sewell Appliance, explains that the porcelain/glass wash cycle (sometimes considered a gentle cycle) is actually a gentler approach to cleaning. "The cycle uses a lower water temperature and reduces the number of revolutions per minute (RPM) of the pump to reduce the force of the water on the dishes." Lower force is less abrasive on fragile items.

Photo: Getty

Webb points out that many dishwasher manufacturers recommend switching to powder detergent when using the gentle cycle because capsules and liquids contain too much detergent for the lighter cycle. Linh Calhoun, marketing director at Replacements, Ltd., agrees and recommends dividing rooms evenly. "This helps prevent damage caused by parts rubbing together and allows for more efficient cleaning as the water can reach all areas." She also suggests avoiding heat drying and allowing the porcelain to cool completely to preserve the delicate ornaments.

Lauren W Glenn

Dishwasher safety

Not surprisingly, Webb recommends sticking to items that are clearly marked as dishwasher safe. "Delicate glass and porcelain, as well as hand-painted or gold-decorated pieces, are likely to be too fragile, which can result in chipping or discoloration." Instead, it's best to hand wash it.

Calhoun says there are other things you can do to maintain good dishwashing habits, especially in family rooms:

  • Remove all jewelry as some pieces (e.g. diamonds!) can scratch the inside of glass items.
  • For extra protection, cover the bottom of the sink with a kitchen towel or rubber mat.
  • Fill your sink with lukewarm or lukewarm water and add a mild detergent. Avoid lemon-scented products or bleach as they can damage delicate surfaces.
  • Wash one piece at a time.
  • Pro Tip: Keep the faucet handle away from the washing area to avoid accidental chips or scratches.

fake images

Additional tips for caring for porcelain and crystals

Experts across the board agree that regular use is the best way to keep delicate parts clean and in top condition. "China is designed to be used and prolonged storage in areas with uncontrolled temperature and humidity can negatively impact tooth enamel, making it brittle and potentially causing cracks," says Calhoun. If you don't use your dishes for a long time, take them out of storage at least once a year to wash them properly. This annual maintenance prevents contaminants from building up in the tooth enamel and helps maintain its strength. "But of course we always say: use the right things. Don't save it. May it bring you and your family joy! »

Professional organizers share 5 effective tips to help you tidy up your home

Decluttering your home can be a daunting task, and a helping hand to point you in the right direction could be a blessing.

Making your rooms more fluid and presentable can do a lot to improve your mood, among other things.

If you're looking for tips to help you with spring cleaning or a small overhaul, you've come to the right place.

The Sliding Door Wardrobe Company spoke to two professional organizers, Cath Hindle of Clear the Clutter and Tracy McCoull of Personally Organized , to find out what people should do.

5 tips to organize your home effectively

Avoid blindly purchasing additional storage solutions

"Buy multiple storage solutions without thinking about what you need to organize and why!" » said Catherine. "It's best to assess exactly what you need and invest in a storage solution that meets those specific needs.

ADVERTISING

"In seven years of professional cleaning, I have only suggested purchasing additional storage space to a client once. You usually already have the storage space you need at home; You just need to organize your things carefully.

Tracy also warns against simply moving clutter around the house.

She explains: "One of the worst mistakes people can make is not tidying up. Before you start organizing, it's important to get rid of items you no longer need. Otherwise, your task will quickly become impossible.

"I find that people have two main types of clutter in their homes: static clutter and nomadic clutter. Static clutter is the stuff we hide in boxes, closets, and drawers and never use. Nomadic clutter refers to things that wander around the house but have no real home.

"You need to master both types of clutter before you can start organizing or thinking about investing in storage solutions. The process should be: order, organize, contain.

Avoid impulse purchases

Decluttering means not buying too many new items, so impulse purchases should be avoided at all costs.

ADVERTISING

Tracy says: "Without a clear intention or purpose, new items often end up wandering around the house, just adding to the chaos. »

Don't always follow viral trends

Cath explains: "I always advise my clients not to follow an organizational trick that goes viral on social media. Organizing books or clothes in rainbow colors may seem cute, but it's very difficult to find individual items when you need them! »

Tracy also says it's important to have a system for the things you want to let go of.

She says: "Whether you're donating items to charity, selling them online or recycling them, it's important to get them out of the house as quickly as possible." Otherwise, you'll end up with even more chaos. »

Where is the best place to start cleaning up?

Tracy reveals that she always asked her clients which room, if chosen, would have the biggest impact on their daily life.

She adds, "Choose a small, manageable area and set a timer for 10 to 15 minutes so you can clean up without feeling overwhelmed." »

ADVERTISING

Cath agrees, saying: "Many people feel overwhelmed by the idea of decluttering their entire home and never start." Start small. I like to start the decluttering process with the closet under the kitchen sink or an underwear drawer; Even cleaning up a small area can have a big impact.

"Consider cleaning up as an ongoing process. You can't do everything in one day, so start small and do a little when you have time. If going through your entire wardrobe seems overwhelming, start with your jeans or sweaters.

Recommended reading:

Implement effective organizational tricks

Cath says: "Store clothes vertically in drawers rather than horizontally along the rails. This makes it easier to see exactly what you have and put your clothes together in the morning!

ADVERTISING

"It also helps improve your buying habits: if you can clearly see that you already own two camel sweaters, you are less likely to buy a third."

Meanwhile, Tracy says, "One of my favorite places to organize is the closet! Once you've cleaned and organized your closet, hang all of the hangers upside down on the rack.

"Once you've used something and it's time to hang it, turn the hanger up."

Spring cleaning means it's time to clean out a big closet

My closet needs a thorough cleaning. Oh really. Last weekend, I was getting ready for a party with friends and realized my closet was in disastrous condition as I tripped over shoes, rifled through my floor-to-ceiling clothes, and rummaged through every corner full of hats, shoes, bags, and other accessories.

Spring cleaning is the perfect time to spend hours going through the drawers of your closet and dresser, weighing each item of clothing to see if it should be kept or donated. Not only will you give your wardrobe some much-needed wiggle room (for adding more items, of course), but it will also feel like a mental reset to get rid of things that no longer serve a purpose.

It can be difficult to get rid of clothes that have been in your closet for a long time, even if you haven't worn them in years. But in the usual chaos of life and full-time work, we need an overcrowded wardrobe that prevents us from quickly finding our favorite jacket or belt. The advantage is that it only takes an afternoon to go from a cluttered closet to an organized one. Here are some simple and effective tips to help you organize your closet.

For more cleaning tips , also consider organizing your refrigerator , removing grime buildup in your Keurig coffee maker , and cleaning your makeup brushes .

1. Take everything out and take inventory.

The first step to cleaning your closet is to completely empty it and give it a thorough cleaning. I recommend removing everything, including clothing, hangers, and shoes, and placing them on your bed or the floor. Remember to also pick up items from shelves, containers and drawers.

Not only does this mean you can easily dust your shelves and vacuum the floors and baseboards in your closets, but you also have to start from scratch. Now you can think and think about each piece you want to keep.

Stack of clothes on the bed

Stack all of your clothes and start taking inventory.

Alina Bradford/CNET

2. Prepare your order materials

Next, you need to take garbage bags, a marker and tape. Place a strip of tape on the first bag and write "Trash" with the marker. Place a strip of tape on the second bag and label it "Donations."

If you have a lot of fashion or designer clothing, consider purchasing a third bag for items you can sell at a consignment store.

3. Start by cleaning your clothes

Okay, now that you're done preparing, it's time to be ruthless. They form four piles: keep, repair, throw away and donate (or sell). The trash pile and the donation pile are the labeled bags. Storage and repair batteries can be placed on your dresser, a chair, or somewhere separate from the rest of your clothing.

What to throw away, donate, send or keep:

    Tips for at home
    CNET
  • If you haven't used it for a year and it's still in good condition, it goes in the donation bag.
  • If it has holes, worn rubber bands, or irreparable tears, throw it in the trash bag.
  • If you need a button or have a hole that you or a cutter can easily repair (and you are committed to repairing it), place the item on the repair pile.
  • If it's not your style, it goes in the donation bag.
  • If it becomes discolored or the fabric peels off, throw it in the trash bag.
  • If it's great, you love it and use it, put it on the save stack.
  • If there are stains, put them in the repair pile and try these stain removal tips .
  • If you don't like it, donate it.

Identify the things that worry you

For many of us, we have that one item of clothing that we always keep as our "goal" outfit, a dress, pair of jeans, or swimsuit that is too small but that we keep as motivation to lose weight. While it's worth encouraging ourselves to live a healthier lifestyle, it's not worth keeping an item that makes us feel ashamed of our shape or size.

Clothing should make you feel empowered rather than make us feel guilty. If you keep an item to motivate yourself to reach a certain size, consider giving it as a gift so as not to trigger compulsive or unhealthy behaviors. And when you reach that milestone, you can always reward yourself with a shopping spree.

Are you still fighting? Try this cleaning method

Take inspiration from the KonMari method if you're having a hard time deciding on clothes. Ask yourself: Does this make you happy? Are you happy with how it fits your body? If the answer to both questions is "no," throw it away.

These rules also apply to shoes. Do you have holes or extreme wear on your soles? You have to go. Haven't you used them in a year? On the way to charity. Do you love them and use them? They are guardians. And if your shoes are a little dirty, you can easily clean them .

4. Reorganize and act

Your closet cleaning journey is almost complete. The only thing you need to do is put away everything that was in the closet. Furthermore, it is important to take care of it immediately. Taking action will prevent these items from taking up space and potentially returning to your closet. Place the trash bag in your trash can immediately. Bring the donation bag to your local drop-off location immediately. No waiting!

Finally, get to work on the items that need repairs or cleaning . If you don't have time to process it yourself, take it to the tailor or dry cleaner immediately after dropping off the charity bag.

How often should you clean your closet?

After you've cleaned out your closet, when should you do it again? This mostly depends on your personal preference and cleaning habits, but I would recommend at least twice a year: once for spring cleaning (between the warmer months of spring and summer) and for New Year's (between the colder months of fall and winter). And if you really like it, you can raid your closet seasonally to donate or consign the items when they're in style.

Remove carpet stains in minutes with an unusual product that a cleaner swears by

QUICK AND EASY: Although it's most effective on water-soluble stains, people say it also works on nail polish (Image: AndreyPopov/Getty)

If something spills on the carpet, you need to act quickly to avoid permanent stains. But it's easy to panic as soon as your coffee cup or glass of red wine goes flying , let alone when you have blood on your strand of hair.

Luckily, according to cleanliness queen Lynsey Crombie, if you have a specific item in the bathroom, there's no need to rummage through cupboards for special carpet cleaning products. "Shaving foam isn't just for shaving," the cleaning expert wrote on her Instagram page .

"It's also an amazing, inexpensive stain remover that works wonders on carpets and mattresses ." Shaving cream is simply a form of whipped soap. Once applied, it foams up, penetrates and moisturizes almost every stain.

MORE CLEANING TIPS

The active ingredients in shaving foam correspond to those of many household cleaners and stain removers. It clings to the carpet fibers, keeps the cleaner in contact with the stain, and starts working very quickly, reports the Express .

"Simply use warm water and a small brush or soft cloth and scrub the stain very gently, let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse," Lynsey said. "Then open the fabric into a square and dry it. I decide to use a white cloth to see how the stain comes off. Allow it to air dry.

He added that he only uses white shaving cream because "it doesn't contain any dyes" but urged people to do a test on an inconspicuous area. The technique is most effective on water-soluble stains such as mud and non-greasy foods, and works best on recent liquid spills. It can also be used to clean upholstery.

Some fans tried the carpet cleaning trick and shared their opinions in the comments section. @kolijohnson wrote: "I did this to a stain on our carpet and it worked great. Thank you for the advice.

While@_kimholland wrote: " My cat threw up on the hallway carpet in the middle of the night . I used the shaving cream tip to remove the stains and it worked incredibly well and left no stains or marks on the carpet. Thank you for this brilliant but easy to use tip.

And @kazmcgaz76 added: "We used this when my daughter had nail polish all over the carpet. I was going crazy while the other half googled as fast as their fingers would allow. Wow, I couldn't believe that brought this to light! »

“I'm a cleaning expert: Decorate your toilet to keep it clean with ease” - Daily Record

A cleaning expert shared a simple trick she uses to keep her toilet clean and smelling good. But people are divided when she points out several problems with this method.

A cleaning guru on TikTok has gone viral for sharing how she "decorates" her toilet to keep it clean while making it look beautiful, but not everyone is convinced it's worth it.

TikTok creator Anouk, better known online as "clean_with_anouk," is known for her cleaning videos where she shares her top tips for keeping your home looking and smelling great with her simple cleaning tips.

However, one of her videos caused a stir among her 37,000 subscribers when she was seen "decorating" her toilet to make it look nicer and keep it clean.

"Decorate my toilet with me," she wrote in a video, showing how she used different scented and colored cleaning pads on the inside of the toilet bowl to create a multicolored pattern.

These gel discs are drawn from a tube into the toilet bowl, where the antibacterial gel slowly dissolves with each flush, helping to keep the toilet clean.

Anouk started by placing the brown colors in a circle at the bottom of the container before adding the yellow ones on top. He then continued with blue and pink slices until he reached the top of the bowl.

Despite this fun and useful tip, people were not impressed with Anouk's cleaning tip as many of them saw several problems with decorating the toilet in this way.

One user expressed concern, saying: "Imagine how much 'dirt' will be trapped between the flowers?!" However, he assured them that the discs were designed to get smaller with each flush, effectively removing any "dirt."

Another person expressed concern about the impact on the environment, saying: "And so all the chemicals end up in the water and nature," while a third person said: "So much wasted product."

However, others expressed their admiration for the trick, although some questions remained. One person commented: "I love it but it's a shame when number 2 leaves a stain and you have to wipe it all off," while another viewer asked: "What if you had to use a toilet brush?"

The article continues below.

A third person then replied: "You have to go in with a toothbrush to go through all the nooks and crannies around each flower."

Homeowner reveals little-known way to cut energy costs by 15%: 'I just discovered it'

Nessa from Origin Energy (@originenergy) recently posted a great tip for saving energy in a fridge.

Nessa emptied her refrigerator, removed the shelves, placed it in the bathtub, and cleaned it thoroughly. He also checked the temperature of his refrigerator and cleaned the interior. While the refrigerator was bright and empty, he pulled it out to clear dust from the bottom and compressor area.

It is then put back into place, leaving enough space on the sides to allow air circulation. Then the shelves with all the food are brought in.

as help

Nessa said that just improving air circulation around the refrigerator can save up to 15% of the refrigerator's energy consumption. This is because a refrigerator works by transferring heat from the refrigerator to the surroundings. The less air there is to circulate around the refrigerator, the more difficult this transfer is and the harder the compressor has to work to keep the refrigerator cool.

Since the refrigerator is one of the appliances that consume the most energy in the home , reducing its consumption could mean significant savings. The Department of Energy also recommends cleaning a refrigerator's coils regularly to optimize performance.

Saving energy consumption is a good way to reduce monthly electricity bills. It also reduces pollution caused by home energy consumption. Since houses are a major source of pollution , all energy saving tips and tricks will benefit the environment.

What everyone says

TikTok commenters had their own ideas for cleaning the fridge.

"I should have let the temperature drop before putting the food back in," one commenter suggested. "No," said another challenger.
