CHARLESTON - long weekend often marks the beginning of the outdoor season for many of West Virginia. People are eager to get outdoor celebrations, to work in their homes and gardens, or to organize. Unfortunately, the warmer weather brings a new set of seasonal risks of poisoning. West Virginia Poison Control Center offers the following tips to make sure of poison to help.
exterior cleaning
n All detergent in the original package label.
Never mix n detergent. When mixed products can produce toxic fumes.
n Allow unattended no cleaning products, especially to children or pets.
Lawn and garden
n Do you know the names of all house plants. If a plant name is not known, consult a local nursery or florist to help with the identification.
See n Poison Control Center of West Virginia to see if a plant is poisonous.
n If it poisonous plants around the house, consider poisonous plants to remove and replace them with non-toxic plants.
n Do not assume plants, berries and mushrooms are safe because birds or wild animals eat. Never Teach your children a part of a plant, berries or mushrooms to take in your mouth, unless it has been identified as non-toxic.
n Keep lawn chemicals in their original labeled containers.
n Follow all instructions for proper use of lawn chemicals.
Outdoor celebrations
No store Grillanzünder and an oil lamp in the original container, out of reach of children. Lamp oil can be seen as apple juice and often sold in packaging similar to the juice container. In order to prevent accidental poisoning, do not use glasses in order to transmit a lighter liquid or lamp oil.
n To avoid food poisoning, warm keeping hot and cold food cold food.
n Keep alcoholic beverages out of reach of children and pets.
