The graduate of a gynecologist and obstetrician in San José dies of coronavirus at the age of 28

PHILADELPHIA - A Saint Joseph University graduate and obstetrician / gynecologist recently died of coronavirus.

Adeline Fagan, class of 2014, died on Saturday in Houston, Texas. He was 28 years old.

In a social media post about Fagan's death, the school said it "lived her life like a hawk with and for others".

Fagan began his sophomore year as an OB / GYN doctor in Texas when he contracted the coronavirus, according to a GoFundMe page created by his family to help out with medical supplies, travel, and other expenses.

It was around July 8th, and on August 3rd she was intubated and put on a ventilator.

Then, on August 4th, doctors placed her on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine, often used in the worst cases of coronavirus.

According to his father, Brant Fagan, Fagan was fine a few days before his death.

But at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, health officials told the family that he had a massive brain hemorrhage that needed treatment. The bleeding was from the virus that was affecting his vascular system.

However, his neurosurgeon said he had a "one-in-a-million chance" of surviving the procedure that would solve the problem. Even if he survived, the surgeon told his family that he would have several severe cognitive and sensory impairments.

"Everyone was depressed by the events, the nurses, the doctors and, of course, us," his father wrote. "We spent the remaining minutes hugging, comforting and talking to Adeline. And then the world stopped ..."

Brant Fagan thanked everyone who has supported his daughter over the past few months.

"If there is anything you can do, be an 'Adeline' in the world," he wrote. "Have a passion for helping the less fortunate, have a smile on your face, a laugh in your heart, and a Disney air on your lips."

The GoFundMe page had a goal of $ 150,000. As of Wednesday morning, approximately 3,500 people raised more than $ 180,000.
