Utility provides safety tips for spring

With residents to clean up their properties, repairs and general maintenance in order to give their homes and in their gardens, public electricity and Gas Co. tells customers attention.

The usefulness of Newark, which has more than 100,000 accounts in Burlington County, offered the following tips for residents to keep safe:

• When vacuuming and sweeping, check the electric child run into or under a carpet. Cords should be ways to avoid the shot and should never be hidden under carpets or furniture where they could overheat and cause a fire.
• While cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, make sure that electrical appliances are not placed where they can get wet. Electrical parts can be, if the wetland, resulting in a risk of electric shock or overheating.
• When dusting, lamps and equipment check to ensure that they have the correct voltage lamps. The power must be equal to or less than the value of the specified by the manufacturer.

PSE & G offers the following tips to clean the exterior:

• When using power tools to work outside, extension cords are marked for outdoor use and designed for the needs of power tools. Overloaded cords can cause an electrical shock or personal injury.
• Check the power lines when using ladders to clean gutters or cleaning of pool equipment that could reach 10 meter lines.
• Digging in the garden to plant new trees or shrubs, make sure you know where the electrical and gas lines are underground. Always call to find New Jersey One Call 811 800-272-1000 or at least three business days before digging to subway lines.
• If planning to cut down trees, check the power lines. The only safe way to prune trees within 10 feet of power lines is to call a professional.
