Springfield, Mo. - The Ministry of Health Springfield-Greene County urged residents to be careful when cleaning up after a flood.

It may be impurities and unknown elements in the dangerous waters, and it must be taken when touch anything underwater.

Here are some tips when it comes to different elements such as food and furniture.

FOOD

Discard foods that have to be cooled when the power was cut for more than six hours.

Not refreeze frozen foods that have thawed. Discard when thawed for more than four hours.

If the food products have been in contact with flood, throwing fresh meat and poultry, cooked and processed foods, canned foods at home, packets that are not airtight food containers and paper.
