D'IBERVILLE, Mississippi (WLOX) - The Walmart Supercenter on Sangani Boulevard in D'Iberville is closing for two days to allow the entire store to be thoroughly cleaned and refilled. The shop closes at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 2nd and remains closed all day on Tuesday. It will reopen to customers on Wednesday, August 4th at 6am
According to a sign on the Walmart door, the alternate pickup pharmacy will remain open while the store is closed. People can call the pharmacy at 228-396-4778 for help.
Brian Little, a member of Walmart's corporate affairs team, said the D'Iberville site is being closed as part of a program launched by the company to help healthcare workers in high-risk areas for transmission. The closure will give an outside specialist more time to disinfect the store. It will also give staff more time to stock up on shelves and prepare for the reopening.
"Everything we do is designed to benefit our employees and the thousands of customers we serve every day, based on the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and health professionals," said Little.
Little also said that Walmart follows CDC guidelines, which include an obligation for fully vaccinated employees to wear masks in public places and indoors.
"When the store reopens on Wednesday, we will continue to have employee health screenings and all unvaccinated employees will still be required to wear face covers," Little said.
Iberville buyers always have an alternative option from Walmart. The Walmart neighborhood market on D'Iberville Road operates normally.
"Our other stores in the area will remain open for the time being so our customers can continue shopping for their basic needs," said Little. "We monitor our businesses and conduct case-by-case assessments as we continue our cleaning and safety measures based on expert health advice. "
