Harrisburg, PA - ( SBWire ) - 04/25/2014 - With the spring season in full swing and the weather around the corner, start families across the country to embark on their annual ritual of spring cleaning heat. However, there are many cleaning products for the home that are not only toxic to the environment, but connected to cancer and childhood. Again Children's Cancer Foundation (CCRF), a children's program Toxic-Free encourages parents to use a safe alternative cleaning to to reduce their children's exposure to potentially dangerous carcinogens and products.
Although typical detergents for household help clear debris, many of them leave toxic chemicals that remain in the house. It is not uncommon to carcinogens, such as kerosene, hydrochloric acid, ammonia and bleach in everyday products. According to the EPA air pollution is one of the most pressing problems of the personal health of the nation. Peak concentrations of 20 toxic compounds - cancer and other related birth defects - were in some houses 200 to 500 times higher than outdoors, according to a study by the EPA five surveyed 600 households in six cities years.
CCPR invites families to greener healthier options to prevent the environmental carcinogens and seek to reduce the risk of cancer in childhood. The following tips can help many families do not have chemicals in this spring:
- Always look "toxic" in the front of the bottle, as it, in order to ensure the simplest and most obvious, the safety of the product form.
- Make sure that the contents listed on the label. Items that are not immediately throw up a red flag.
- Use natural alternatives like vinegar and baking soda. That may seem simple, but because of its acid, vinegar is very effective at killing mold, bacteria and germs. Do not worry, it's safe on most surfaces such as wood (as it is sealed or finished).
- Avoid products that contain bleach. Vapour from this chemical has negative effects on the nervous, respiratory and immune systems. The risk also increases bleach mixture with other substances.
- Steam cleaning is to clean a safe and effective manner, without the use of chemicals. Disinfects and dirt free steam simultaneously.
- Many cleaners contain toxins that cause cancer. To avoid products containing perfumes, dyes, optical brighteners and phthalates, is best.
- It is commonly found in glass cleaners, ammonia is a highly toxic element that highlights a number of health risks, including cancer. It is best product, the total element to avoid that.
