It was a long harvest this year for all, as it seems. After harvesting, the field work is always followed by the course.
With the coming cold season, the team used this last for the winter growing season is always a good idea. I recently had the opportunity to Nebraska Weed Control Association (ACSQ) falls training to present "spray equipment for the winter."
It is always best to avoid the syringe after each use to clean chemical contamination and tank training. However, it is always encouraged at the end of the season before putting the syringe for the winter a final sweep.
No matter what type of spray used - backpack, mountain bike, pull-back, etc. - adequate cleaning of the equipment at the end of the season is essential. First, you'll want to rinse the inside of the system. To clean the syringe, they know that pesticides applied.
Each applicator keeps a record of what were sprayed pesticides. As for the labels it is a great place to start the cleaning process.
Be sure to follow the label on personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow the manufacturer for cleaning and maintenance of all equipment instructions. Collecting the rinse water from the system (which may contain pesticide residues) and prepared according to label instructions.
Cleaning the outside of the sprayer is important if a pesticide is spilled and no waste remains in the tank. Rinse use the equipment with clean water and a brush to clean all parts of the sprayer with deposits that have accumulated over time.
If you have a large aerosol, or one that's in the box of a truck, do not forget to clean the cabin and throwing all the garbage that have accumulated application during peak season. Trash can attract rodents, and we all know the damage they can create.
Now that everything has been flushed, the system decontaminate. In general, a detergent or a solution is recommended. You can find in 2017 "selected recommended cleaning agents for herbicides" a list of the pages 61 to 64 in the brush guide.
These cleaners neutralize and remove pesticide residues, mineral deposits and oxide to leave a protective film to prevent corrosion. the detergent for several minutes to flushes the sprayer twice with clear water after circulation. Remove all nozzles and filters, dry clean with soap and water and thoroughly.
Then make a thorough inspection of the system. This process can be tedious, but it will take time and money in the long run. inspected things the reservoir, hoses, boom, pump, pressure gauges, valves, nozzles and screens are includes.
Each nozzle is different, so enters a fine tooth comb determine along which must be repaired. is good practice during the inspection system to write down everything that needs to be replaced. In this way, you have made a written record of the maintenance work.
The maintenance is so important in a spray, regardless of their size or the amount of the purchase. to keep the manufacturer's instructions for the sprayer follow.
Some manufacturers recommend a small amount of RV or car antifreeze is added. Some might suggest, add a little oil and let the pump run for four or five times to cover all interior surfaces. Others may recommend to prevent a corrosion inhibitor in cooling inlet addition to pump corrosion.
Be sure to follow all the recommendations for maintenance of the sprayer after the system inspected. Drain and replace the final transmission oil, checked the tires and remove the field devices and stored in an air-conditioned area.
Parts removed for storage include nozzles, filters, valves, tips, screen, indicators and the field computer. Some people put their nozzles and oil filter in a light box, while others stored in a dry place that does not cause corrosion or freezing. Each method is fine, but it's better, the manufacturer's instructions can be seen.
It is also to store in a dry spray Building preferably from one of the main elements - Moisture causes corrosion and rust while UV spray tanks degrade and weaken rubber parts. If you need to save the sprayer outdoors in winter to remove the tubes and wipe the excess oil on the outer surfaces. If you have a trailer type pulverizer to prevent blocks under the rack or wave flat spots in the tire.
Finally, ask yourself why equipment Spray winter is important in the first place? Caring for your sprayer saves time and money next spring when she is ready to spray. Proper maintenance will also help the resale value down the road.
