6 lazy cleaning tricks

For who wants to spend valuable time cleaning his house?

Melissa Maker is a Toronto-based cleaning expert whose articles always make me dig my house. (Unfortunately nobody else has this effect on me). One thing I really like is that you understand that most people do not have time to clean their homes. But they have to do the job in the fastest and most efficient way. as effective as possible. On her website Clean My Space she offers excellent tips. (You should also read your eponymous book ).

1. Use professional tools.

She uses the example of window cleaning, which makes a difference to create a perfect space, but it takes a lot of time when you do it with a spray and a microfiber cloth. Invest in a scrubber and raclette set and use a watery solution in a bucket to get the job done quickly. (My mom swears by 1-2 drops of Sunlight dish soap in a bucket of the hottest water she can get out of the faucet). It works.) The manufacturer also recommends scraping the shower after each use.

2. Pretreatment.

This means spraying soiled areas and leaving them for a few minutes before you attack with a rag. Use this time limit to clean up something else. Returning to the problem area will make the system much easier to delete.

3. Remove excess.

If you attack a dirty spot such as an oven, refrigerator or floor, or are struggling with a stain, remove the larger pieces before adding liquid. This means scratching excess food from the oven or drawer, cleaning the worktop to remove crumbs and sweeping dirt and pebbles off the floor. Your work will be easier.

4. Keep things dry.

Fight the growth of the cabbage blight and understand why it forms first: constant humidity. This is a problem especially in bathrooms. Be sure to dry bath mats, bath linens, and shower curtains. Leave the door of your washing machine open. Hang the wet kitchen and cleaning cloths to dry if you do not wash them immediately. It is useful to open a window in the bathroom while showering or to operate a ventilator to prevent accumulation of moisture.

5. Dare to clean it.

Fold and iron your clothes while watching your favorite show. Time will pass much faster. Commit yourself to cleaning for the duration of your favorite song as soon as possible. (I use this tactic to delete emails in my inbox.) You'll be surprised what you do. My mother asked children to play 100 items: the first to collect 100 won items. (Yes, there was so much crap in our house that four kids could be busy.)

6. Store cleaning agents in each room.

Over the years, I realized that accessibility for small cleanings is of the utmost importance. If there is a toilet brush next to the toilet and a detergent is stored under the sink, I will do it, but not if it means it will go down. Create a cleaning bucket for each floor of the house (or select items in each bathroom), and you'll be more inclined to do so.
