KALISPELL holidays can be a stressful time for pets.
The Executive Director of the Northwest Montana Animal Protection Society , Lori Heatherington, told NTD News that the holiday for pets, especially for strangers and feed special challenges brings.
Heatherington says festive foods like turkey, cakes and sweets can be extremely dangerous if your pet eats them. She notes that holiday treats are often accompanied by processed ingredients and artificial sugars that can cause heart and stomach problems for your pet.
"You 'll find that they recommend not giving them xylitol , so these are some of the sweeteners that people could use and you do not want to change your dog's stomach flora, as you'll find that different outlets require a lot of cleaning." said Heatherington.
Heatherington added that Flathead Pet Emergency is open during the holidays if your pet needs immediate medical attention.
