This oven cleaning trick went viral after showing how easy it is to remove burnt-in stains - 9Now

The baked-on dirt covering the oven is difficult and a nuisance to clean. But it turns out that a lot of the hard work can be done without endless scrubbing thanks to a cleaning hack.

While it sounds easy, it's not the quickest method since you have to wait all night for the magic to happen.

TikTok user @aurikatariina shared her plaque cleaning method in a video that has since been viewed 2.9 million times.

The hack that says it will "change your life" uses oven cleaner, plastic wrap, a scouring pad, and oven wax.

"Spray oven cleaner on the burned area, cling film over it, wait 24 hours," says Auri in the clip you can see above.

After waiting a day, Auri peeled off the plastic wrap, revealing the burned bits had broken down into a thick brown liquid that's much easier to clean than dirt.

"The spots had melted away," he said.

Once the plastic wrap is removed, Auri suggests scrubbing with a Steel Daddy, but you can use a toothbrush or a scrubbing brush. He then cleaned the kiln and added kiln wax to the elements.

"So satisfying," said Auri.

Auri's followers agree that the trick is useful for knowing that she has liked the clip 267,000 times and left 1,183 comments.

"It's really amazing, can't believe you made it brand new," one commented.

Some viewers shared their own baking sheet and oven cleaner cleaning tips.

"If there's a messy spot, I spray, cover it with a paper towel and spray again and come back ten minutes later and it cleans up fine, but don't forget," said one woman.

Another revealed another use of oven cleaner: "Oven cleaner is great. I use it to get stains out of my bathtub."

It's just one of many plastic wrap cleaning methods making the rounds on social media. A mom once shared a method of cleaning the oven with the pantry clamp on the Mums Who Clean Facebook page.

"I've been putting off this job for months...I got a tip from Instagram to put Glad Wrap over your cleanser to keep it from drying out," the mom wrote on the Mums Who Clean Facebook page.

"How clever! I just used Easy-off Bam Spray Foam, Glad Wrap and let it sit for a good six hours. I have removed all my frames as I will be making them separately."

After six hours, the mother took out the film and threw it in the trash. Then he used hot dish soap and a rag to clean it.

Another TikToker used the plastic wrap method to clean its oven racks. This hack involved placing the racks on top of the packaging and spraying them with oven cleaner before placing another layer of packaging on top. This was left for half an hour before being washed off.

The cling film keeps detergents moist so they can work longer on the stain.
