If you pierce your ears or any other part of your body, you may initially experience bleeding, swelling, tenderness, or bruising.
There may even be a whitish yellow liquid coming out of the piercing, which is likely normal and part of the healing process.
However, if your piercing is leaking pus and the area around it is hot, painful, puffy, and very red or dark, it is likely infected.

Wash your hands thoroughly before cleaning the piercing.
Soak your cotton or gauze in the solution and apply it to the piercing.
Soften the crusts and gently turn the jewelry over while cleaning.
If you have a piercing in your mouth, you can use this solution as a rinse and roll it around the inside of your mouth before spitting it out.
