As much as we love to scatter candles and reed diffusers around our homes, there's no denying that maintaining them can be an expensive habit, especially during lockdown times.

Well, instead of spending £10 (or more!) on a new reed diffuser every few months, one cleaning fan uses fabric softener as a wallet-friendly alternative.

Late last year, TikTok user Nic shared her life in a viral video that received over 10,700 likes.

She captioned the clip, "Don't throw away your reed diffusers!"

Instead, the cleaning fan poured a few capsules of Lenor's Sparkling Bloom and Yellow Poppy perfume into the empty bottle and filled it with water.

He then puts the chopsticks back in the jar and claims the homemade concoctions make his room smell like heaven.

Unsurprisingly, other users are now keen to try it out for themselves.

"I love it," one replied. "I'll try !"

Another added: "This genius!!!"

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "I put Zoflora and water in mine!"

Though others have said the sticks get moldy, Nic added, "I've had them in my bathroom for a week and still no mold."
