Kuvrd, the company that brought us the universal lens cap, is funding another crazy invention. This time it's a miniature lens cloth called the WaterBear, which is as small as a postage stamp and sticks to your phone or camera so you can take it anywhere.
We all know situations where our smartphone's camera lenses fog up a bit when we take them out of our pocket, and maybe the fingerprint reader on your device just won't read. Stains and fingerprints are marks that can be left anywhere, no matter how careful we are with our devices.
Especially for photographers, a microfiber cloth is a basic utensil and an important utensil that you should always have with you, if you also wear glasses, you probably always have around three cloths at hand.

A super handy little device is launched that, without being dramatic, could be the solution to all of my life's problems as a four-eyed photographer glued to screens all day with a lost pet fur, navigating every crack. The WaterBear is the smallest wipe you've ever seen and contains a professional cleaning element the size of a postage stamp.
Kuvrd's proprietary fabric (pronounced covered) clings to any surface for convenient storage options that take up virtually no space when clipped to your camera lens photo on the back of your phone or in the corner of your monitor. . as seen in the video posted on their Kickstarter page. The product has over 3,500 backers at the time of writing, with £73,466 (over $96,000) pledged, far exceeding its original goal of $25,000/£1,895.
Marketed as an all-purpose glass cleaner that's washable, reusable, and sticks to any surface without leaving streaks or residue, the WaterBear is a great addition to anyone's frequent cleaning kit. The high-quality, easy-to-use cloth is designed to ensure customers are always ready to easily, instantly and safely clean devices and glass screens.
The WaterBear cloth is made from a triple-blended nano-carbon-polyamide synthetic material in a soft chamois leather with omni-directional fiber loops to clean glass without scratching it. As if that wasn't cool and practical enough, the fabric has an almost indefinite lifespan. You can put each little cloth through dozens of uses before rinsing with water and allowing to air dry to restore its sticky texture and cleaning ability. Rinse, dry, reuse.
Mass production of this little guy is set to begin between April and June 2022, with deliveries expected in July. Prices start at $13 (£10 / AU$17) for a set of universal window cleaners. This Kuvrd kickstarter is not the first to be made, other projects include universal lens caps, camera straps and lens hoods that fit all camera models.
