Spring is just around the corner and now is the best time to start spring cleaning.
You and your dog have probably spent most of their time indoors during the colder months, but now that temperatures are getting warmer it's time to get ready for spring.
The American Kennel Club offers the following spring cleaning tips to help dog owners start the season off right.
Lose control
When dogs shed their winter coats in the spring, they do so in greater numbers, so be sure to clean up after your pup (this goes for cats too). Brush your dog's coat regularly and down to the skin to remove loose hair and dander. You may also need to vacuum a little more during this time.
clean their paws
There's more rain around the corner, which also means more mud.
"Muddy season," as some dog owners call it, can leave paw prints all over the house when your dog comes back inside. Be sure to clean your dog's paws at the door to avoid mud and water stains.
When they return from outside, take a damp cloth and gently wipe between their toes to remove any mud, dirt, or debris. It keeps the house and your dog clean.
Wash the dog bed regularly
Washable beds are a big plus for your dog this time of year. You can use a cloth cover for your dog's bed so you can wash it easily.
Be sure to use unscented detergent and fabric softener as this can irritate your dog's skin. Vacuum any excess dirt or hair from your space and you're good to go.
