You may not think of the laundry as a big expense, but considering how often you wash your clothes, you may find that it is actually accumulating. This is especially true for those of us who live in homes without washing machines or in machines with prepaid machines.

While washing clothes is always a tedious task, setting up a green laundry routine can help you save money and protect the environment. Here are five tips that can save you money in the long term.

Invest in a washboard

A big hassle that often accompanies your laundry routine is the dry cleaning. Machine wash is not an option for your individual work clothes or pretty clothes. If the article really can not be wet, there is not much to do. But if you just do not want to carry a wash cycle, washing your nice clothes can save you a lot of money.

So invest in a washboard that you can use in your sink or tub to wash clothes that require extra soft touch.
