You can save your luggage as new by cleaning the dirt it collects during your travels. The way you look at each piece depends on the material.
Start by unloading the bag and using a vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated crumbs or sand from the main room and bags, says Dan Miller, founder and CEO of Mulberry's Garment Care, an eco-laundry company in California and Minnesota. ,
The right method of cleaning the exterior depends on its material. Miller says to always read the care label and offers these general cleaning tips:
For leather bags: Stains with a toothbrush, hot water and a little detergent. If there is a grease stain, use dish soap. Then wipe with a cloth. Then spray the bag evenly with a leather cleaner and let it air dry.
For soft-walled cloth bags: Fill a bathtub with hot water and a few detergent blasts. Put the bag in the water and move it to loosen the dirt. After a few minutes, drain the water. Repeat the process, but leave the bag to work for about an hour.
For bags with fixed walls: Clean with mild soap and water, use detergent and a toothbrush for greasy stains. For aluminum bags you can cover after cleaning with metallic paint, for more shine and protection.
Make sure your luggage is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold or mildew.
