Woodworm is a harmful pest that feeds on all types of wood, making small round holes and leaving dusty residues. While the damage is often cosmetic in nature, woodworms can sometimes cause serious structural problems in furniture, wood beams, and more.
Despite their name, woodworms are not worms.
Instead, woodworms are wood-boring larvae of various species of beetle, but often also of the furniture beetle (niche name).
The larvae then dig into any wooden surface (furniture, beams, or parquet) and stab, leaving a powder behind.
They attack all types of wood and can sometimes cause severe structural damage.

Perforated Dust: Woodworms leave perforated dust behind when they leave the wood.
Weak and damaged planks - This can indicate severe infestation.
Live adult beetles - woodworm beetles often attempt to mate.
Dead Beetles - Occasionally, adult leaf beetles cannot leave the property and die.
They cost anywhere from £ 6 to £ 20 depending on where you shop and the level of treatment you need.
This should apply to all wood infested by woodworms.
You should also treat any wooden objects nearby to protect yourself from future breakouts.
You can then repaint and varnish the treated surfaces after they have dried.
Can you prevent woodworms?
There are a few things you can do to prevent woodworm infestation in your home.
1. Reduce humidity
2. Remove infected items from other wooden items.
3. Treat objects you discover with woodworms as soon as possible.
