It's that time of year when you sweat for no reason.
July 27 through August 20 is historically the time Houston experiences the hottest weather of the year, with an average high of 95 degrees and an average low of 75 degrees, according to Space City meteorologist Eric Berger .
This summer is no different, but there are tips to help you overcome the worst.
Local Reddit user Aintaword has come up with a comprehensive list of ways to make intense heat more bearable .
Some good suggestions include cleaning or replacing your HVAC filters and cleaning the outside of the condensing unit.
"Turn off the air conditioning and spray the fins inside-out, using a garden hose, not a trailer-mounted pressure washer," the user wrote.
"Better airflow is better cooling."
They also mentioned getting a replacement capacitor, learning to replace it, and getting an HVAC technician up and running quickly.
"Schedule an HVAC technician now as most businesses are busy when temperatures reach 100 degrees," Aintaword wrote.
Other suggestions include using anything to keep the sun off your home and vehicle, including window tinting, aluminum foil, blinds or curtains hanging inside, over windows, parking in a garage or store, and using windshield covers.
"We isolate everything," wrote Aintaword.
"We have been using aluminum air cushion insulation on metal garage doors for years. It made a huge difference.
The good news is that, according to Berger, we won't experience a heat wave, which is intense high pressure directly over the region and the temperature constantly drops to 100 degrees.

"The high pressure ridge that made a hot and sunny weekend possible will shift slightly north this week, allowing for some isolated afternoon showers before moving south again in time for next weekend," he said.
However, it is always expected that the rain will be "lost" and not "hit", said Berger with a probability of one in three rains a day.
So be prepared for sunny days with temperatures until the mid-90s, he said.
Limit your time outdoors to around noon.
