I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've had an emergency tracheostomy with a razor and pen. And yet it's so common on television that it's a trope . While it's not a medical show in and of itself, the new FOX The Housekeeper jumps right into it. Elodie Yung ( Daredevil , Gods of Egypt , Hitman's Bodyguard ) is Thony, a Cambodian doctor who emigrates to the United States because her sick son needs better medical care than she can get in her own country. But when her visa expires, she has to work as a caretaker. She attracts the attention of an organized crime family and soon starts working for them to raise enough money to look after her son.
It doesn't look good , but what does FOX do besides Bob's Burgers ? At least it's not a reality show anymore. It's a great concept, at least. At least I would expect something funny to report on incompetent criminals cleaning up after themselves with tips from the show. It's like the anti- CSI . Also with Adam Canto, Martha Millan and Jay Mohr, who I had no idea they were still playing, The Housekeeper starts tonight on FOX and probably tomorrow on Hulu.
