When I was a mother, I was naive in many ways. One was in particular the work of a diaper pail. Of course I knew the basics. Dirty diapers enter. My husband ( I hope) the spell. I also assumed that he had caught all the smells in it.
Yes, I am aware that it is a container full of piss and phew. As in urine and feces. It stays for days. Sometimes it cooks like a stove during the summer months. But it does not matter, the bucket gets caught in the stench. He said it in the box, right?
I was wrong and sensitized by the son of my 7-year-old friend. "Ugh," he said as he entered our house. "I forgot it still feels like Archer's dirty buttocks."
Bam. The truth comes from the mouths of babies. One that I needed to know.
The diaper pails give off a miserable smell. The first months he is present for a brief moment, only when it is open. Soon it starts to stay, after it is closed. Like a cloud of rot and misery hanging from your nose in your nursery. Finally, between 6 and 12 months later, there is no safe area. The scent goes over your house like the smoke of a wild fire. A severe forest fire.
I was lost. Of course I cleaned it. Directed often. In fact, I did not even use it in the summer for a month to stop the mentioned excrement from cooking in the middle of summer.
I decided to contact my mother's army on Instagram for help. That's what they said
- Clean Before I rolled my eyes and said "friend," let me explain it. Water and soap are nice, but you have to be industrial. Baking soda and vinegar. Bleaching alcohol Lysol Maybe even everything. Make sure you do it outside or in a place with good ventilation. Plastic buckets can be absorbed or eroded. Try a small area first.
- Essential oils Peppermint oil has been recommended several times. It's pretty strong: Try to dilute it with water in a spray bottle. It is used to clean and hold aerosols.
- Double Pocket In addition to folding your mug with a bag, buy bags for dog paws. Wrap your diaper in one and put it in the folded bucket.
- Air and Sun Many mothers leave their buckets outside at least one night a week. Some people also let him sit in the sun to kill bacteria.
- Sheet Dryer Place a fragrant dry film between the bucket and the liner. You can also add a second one in the bag. If you have these fragrant laundry accounts, you can shake some of them.
- Relocate. When the smell gets too strong, it may be time to move. The bucket, not the whole house. We finally took us from the nursery to our laundry room.
- Coffee Another reason why he is Mum's best friend. The patterns can absorb odors. Wrap in a filter - even the bottoms are used - and fall into the bag.
- Reduce shit. Try to avoid placing layers of shit in the bucket. Dispose of the toilet (if possible) or bring the diaper immediately in the outer basket.
- Hold the countdown. The longer the layers are, the more they feel. Remember to empty the bag every night or do not let the account be much higher than 10.
- Deodorant discs. Many buckets are made to accommodate a slice of baking soda or other deodorants. Even if you do not have one technically, you can leave it on the bottom.
- Spraying Whenever you empty the bucket, spray into it. Diluted alcohol or vinegar, Lysol. Make your choice Keep a spray bottle near the bucket == but out of the reach of small children so you will not forget it.
- Buy a new one. If all else fails, you may need to buy a new bucket. Many mothers collect a new bucket for each baby. It's frustrating and it's not the most profitable approach. But can you really pay a price for the smell of shit not getting into your family food?
