Gyms don't close the shop ...

Gymnastic rats have a safe haven in the midst of the growing coronavirus pandemic - many of their reference sites don't seem to be near the closure. However, they will do additional cleaning to reassure people.

TMZ has spoken to several major gyms in Los Angeles, including 24-hour fitness, Equinox, and TriFit ... and all tell us that they have received no instructions to keep their members in COVID-19 Gap. In short, what they will do is improve their cleaning game.

A TriFit employee in Santa Monica told TMZ ... that his gym had replaced a few small bottles of hand sanitizer with four large ones, one in each locker room and two in the main gym. They also provided more tissues and paper towels in the hope that members would use them to clean the machines. TriFit also encourages people to wash their hands, etc.

The only thing that Tri closes ... as a precaution is its saunas and hammams.

Equinox does something similar, except that the cleaning load seems to be on the staff. We are informed that Equinox employees have been asked to reinforce their cleaning efforts with hospital cleaning solutions that should be used for morning and afternoon cleaning ... more than their regular cleaning schedule.

Gold's Gym, where none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger gets stronger, tells us that they clean areas more often and give members advice on how to stay clean and healthy, including staying at home. You are sick. That's all.

As for 24 hours ... they also follow the same principle of additional cleaning: Tell TMZ that its employees clean almost all tactile surfaces that they can access with disinfectant solutions. They also say that they encourage members to use nearby cleaning stations before using a machine and, of course, afterwards.

24HF doesn't believe ... its 24GO app offers more than 2,000 workouts that people can do at home. They therefore suggest that members use them when they cannot.

The bottom line ... the gyms here do what they should be doing in a room where germs are carried away, which means clean ... just a lot more. So if you're brave and don't worry about catching something, look for your elevator. The corona virus doesn't stop it.
