Historically, spring begins with my staging business early. My peak season started earlier this year with calls that started at full speed in mid-February. Spring has come in the real estate world. When you plan to market your home, are you ready?
Quick checklist
Examine, update, repair. Access everything!
Give, pull, sell everything that doesn't move with you. Illuminate all rooms with things including basement, garage and loft.
Clean the entire house from top to bottom, inside and outside.
Check the covered landscape. Eliminate everything that did not survive winter. Create a clear path to the front door.
The advice before registration gives you advice on how to get the best return on investment. Before you spend too much, you can orient yourself better. I have prevented many customers from wasting money on unnecessary renovations with cheaper proposals.
Checklist not yet sold
All of this, but rather a relaxed timeline. The advantage is that you can enjoy your home while you live there. Over the years I have worked with many customers who no longer see the reality of their home. We acclimatize ourselves and don't see what the house looks like. A well-kept house sells for more than an abandoned house. Many customers on stage said: "We should have lived this way all the time" after preparing his house for sale.
How to clean a top loading washing machine
In my last column, I gave instructions on how to clean a front loading washing machine. A lovely woman, Fran from Middletown, called me because she had a top loading machine and wanted to know how to clean it. She doesn't have a computer, so I read her instructions over the phone. Here are these instructions.
You need: baking soda, white vinegar, toothbrush, microfiber cloth or paper towels.
Configure the device in the longest and warmest configuration. When the tub is filled with water, add a liter of white vinegar. Close the lid and run the washing machine for 1 minute to mix the vinegar. Open the lid so that the machine remains idle for an hour, soaking the vinegar in the bowl. In the meantime, remove parts that can be soaked and softener. Dry and replace. Clean the agitator, the areas under the lid and around the edge of the tank with a toothbrush. Clean the surface of the machine, including the dials. Complete the cycle after 1 hour of soaking. Do another hot wash with a cup of baking soda to neutralize the vinegar. After draining, clean the sides and bottom of the inner tank with a vinegar solution. To prevent mold, leave the lid open between the washes so that the interior can dry.
In future columns you will find further tips on spring cleaning, cleaning and donating your things. Do you have an idea? Please share
