TORONTO - If you want to prevent the new corona virus (COVID-19) from entering your home, you are not alone.
Cleaning companies say their phones keep ringing when people are looking for information on how best to keep their homes clean.
CTV News Toronto has compiled a list of tips that people can use to meet all cleaning needs.
Contact points
Cleaning experts consider it advisable to contact common contact points such as tables, door handles, light switches, handles, desks, toilets, taps and sinks.
"This is where you find most of the contaminants, and problems always occur," said Warren Jacobs, CEO of MCL Green, a cleaning products supplier in Toronto.
Stronger products
Cleaning experts also recommend using stronger products that contain higher concentrations of substances that kill germs.
Lee Senter, CEO of DRYit.ca and president of the Canadian Floor Cleaning and Restoration Association, said house cleaning products are generally not as effective as chemicals.
"The dish soap and water are 50 times, if not 100 times, better than vinegar and water," said Senter.
Read labels
This advice sounds simple, but experts say it is often overlooked. Cleaning experts remind users to read the labels and follow the instructions to clean the products.
"You want to look at the label; They want to find a drug identification number to make sure it's really certified, "said Jacobs.
Senter explained that the instructions must be followed carefully for the products to function properly.
"If you don't use the product according to the directions on the label, you won't get the promised murder. The only way to find out is to read the instructions," said Senter.
Two-step process
Experts say that the cleaning is done in two steps.
"You want to start cleaning and then disinfect," said Jacobs.
Senter also recommends that people wear disinfectant wipes and say, "They do everything in one."
Avoid cross contamination
Experts advise people to wear disposable gloves and masks when cleaning and to change them frequently to avoid cross-contamination.
Laundry
Cleaning experts recommend using the warmer clothing configurations approved for washing and adding a disinfectant.
Wash your hands
As the provincial health authorities have stressed, it is very important that you wash your hands frequently for more than 20 seconds at a time.
