DIY Makeover: Woman Transforms Hallways and Stairs for Under £ 200 - Top Tip | Express.de

Refurbishing areas of the home, such as hallways and stairs, can be expensive, and stairs are a difficult task. However, British Radiators spoke to Hayley, 33, of Kingston upon Hull about renovating her hallway and stairs. By documenting her DIY trip on Instagram, Hayley managed to transform her hallway for less than £ 200.

She described her taste in terms of interiors: "I always discover lots of colors, patterns and textures that I love.

"I really enjoy wearing lots of bright colors and bold patterns, and I tend to mix and match and hope it works!

"My favorite transformation in our home is the hallway and stairs. We didn't keep track of what we spent on remodeling the hallway but we managed to keep it under £ 200. "

With a combination of materials, the DIY fan transformed their hallway into a warm, colorful room with paint, adhesive tiles and sandpaper.

"The walls weren't in the best shape so we thought about fixing them, but we figured we could clean up the walls ourselves by just filling in the holes and sanding them down. "

After all homework was done, Hayley began painting the hallway, painting the bottom half of the walls dark gray and blushing the top half.

Maintenance staff added, "For the first floor we used cut and glued tiles that are really easy to use and look great at a fraction of the cost of actual tile.

"The last thing we had to do was add the finishing touches, we upcycled an old mirror with sticky patterned vinyl, added artificial plants, hung prints and pictures, and added lampshades.

"We also had an upstairs stove that we wanted to hide, so my husband put it in a closet, which also created a lot of storage space.

"Everything we do internally is done within budget. We love reusing and recycling the things we already have at home.

"It takes a lot of time and work-through, but it's definitely worth it when we see the final transformation. "

Hayley has saved huge amounts of money in other parts of her house as well, including the kitchen, where she upcycled the original cabinets by painting.

She added, "Just give it a try. There are tons of videos and things out there that will give you tips on how to get the job done.

"We always did that, everything we did in the house was self-taught, we just tried and thought if we couldn't make it then we had a professional ... I didn't" have to do it.

Hayley also recommends taking the time to prepare before you start painting.

She said, "This will give you the best deal. We have found that removing items in their original condition works very well, and removing blemishes before you start adding color and finishing details gives a near-professional finish without paying a professional price.
