Restaurants warned to purge their law: the Sussi report

It's not Defcon 1, but two restaurants held administrative hearings with the Franklin County Public Health Department on December 9 for repeated critical violations and "failure to meet minimum standards of the Ohio Uniform Food Safety Code."

Yes, health officials could suspend your licenses or even take steps to revoke them, but this is the likely scenario: restaurant officials meet with health officials, present a plan of action, and deal with violations immediately.

We start with La Cascada, 375 George Rd., A restaurant, over whom I have spoken often during my years as Lame Stream Media.

In this case, the problem is with the fat waste at the back of the restaurant.

In his report, the inspector stated that the grease should be disposed of properly rather than "flushing down the external drains". The conditions, said the inspector, "attract or harbor insects and rodents."

Meet at KFC, 4828 W. Broad St. In his report, the inspector stated that kitchen appliances, ovens, freezers, vending machines, ice makers, microwaves and floors require a "deep cleaning". The Franklin County Department of Health has sent warning letters to Little Caesars, 534 S. State Street, Westerville, and Tea Jaye's Country Place, 1880 Stringtown Rd., Grove City.

In his report, the health inspector stated that Little Caesars, the entire facility, from ceiling to floor, "needs cleaning." The restaurant did not have a "current food license," according to the report.

On November 24th, the inspectors found that Tea Jayes Country Place had a problem

with rodents. In his report, the inspector wrote that rodents were gnawing on a packet of bread. The inspector also observed rodent droppings on floors, shelves, cold stores and food preparation areas.

If Little Caesars and Tee Jaye's Country Place do not correct the violations, both could face administrative hearings.
