Candy Congdon, Journalist:
Q: Do you have a spring ritual? Clean the house, prepare a garden, plant seeds and decorate the house. Tell us about it ...
A: Our house, Herons Nest, is 75 meters from the harbor edge. We love to sit on our terrace for a part of the day as soon as the snow is over. Bringing all the chairs and tables onto the patio where we store them in the basement of our unfinished garage is an exciting but rewarding exercise.
Question: What do you expect most from the change of season and the arrival of the warm weather?
A: Sitting on our terrace ... with wine.
Q. What respectable gardening advice can you share with readers?
A: Instead of buying expensive pre-planted hanging baskets, we buy individual flowers in packs of six or eight packs initiated by the Waldoboro Moose Crossing Garden Center. Every year we use our large pots and hanging baskets again, placing them on our large terrace overlooking the harbor. We also filled the whiskey barrels in front of the house and a pot on the cover of our front door.
We plant the flowers in a special peat compost that bears the nursery. We keep track of the locations of the pots and barrels, as well as the flowers that we use and which are successful in these places.
We can produce more than 20 baskets and the five barrels of whiskey much cheaper.
We spray everything automatically with two orbit irrigation systems with timed emitters leading to each planter and planter. Every two weeks I fertilize all planters carefully with a Miracle Gro product.

Q: Do you have a spring ritual? Clean the house, prepare a garden, plant seeds and decorate the house. Tell us about it ...
Answer: In my house, the only ritual I know is to tell my husband all the things I want to do this spring and summer this year that are not possible in the winter. It's usually about promising to finish the house (a project that's been in preparation for three years, I think, when we go home, it's time to start over!) Are digging out the perennial plants the previous owners of my house planted with love.
Last year, my dad and mother brought tiger lilies that grew in their garden. We have carefully planted them in front of my house, hoping to give a little life and attract the attractiveness of our little house. The tiger lilies remind me of my childhood and my second mother; It was a lot in front of his house and on the way from my house to his. I can not wait to see you this year. Unfortunately, this is the only thing I did last year, so I have to work!
Question: What do you expect most from the change of season and the arrival of the warm weather?
A. What I like most about the season change is when you feel the spring sun on your skin. It has a very different feeling of winter or autumn sun; It gives me a feeling of calm and warmth. It reminds me that we have survived the dark times of the year and are ready for the new life and energy that spring brings us. I love taking out the chairs in my backyard and enjoying all the rising sun.
Q: Is there anything you would like to do this year to rejuvenate your home and / or garden that you have always wanted to do, but have never done?
A. In my first year at home, I made sure my husband Brandon built a garden box so that we could get fresh vegetables. It took a season. Currently it contains weeds and an old bike that needs to be dumped.
The kids asked me if we could still plant in the box this year and I responded with enthusiasm: "Of course we can do it!" I think it's time for me to go to Louis Doe or Damariscotta Hardware to get some dirt and some seeds so we can easily switch to the garden.
We have an incredible mountain of landslides and slides in our home where we had many meetings, friends and fun. This year my goal is to make my lawn nice, full and sweet so we can make it again. Live a time without stress.
In addition, it is much more pleasant to bring all those who want to take the three children!
Q. If you can choose a home or garden project as a party, invite friends and family members to help you while having fun. What is it Describe how to visualize this ...
A. My birthday is in Cinco de Mayo on May 5th. One year after a particularly harsh winter for my branches, I decided to organize a cleaning party in the garden for my birthday. I offered sticks and margaritas and my friends gave me work and laughter. Honestly, it was one of the best days of my recent recollection: enjoying the people in my life, doing something banal like cleaning rod in my garden.
To be honest, there has not been much garden cleaning, but I know a lot of work has been done.
Q. What respectable gardening advice can you share with readers?
R. My advice at home and in the garden is to use what you have and with whom you have it. No matter in which situation, no matter where, just enjoy what life has given you. Go out and see the beauty of what surrounds you, and remember that there is a larger world outside your small field of view of the universe.

Q: Do you have a spring ritual? Clean the house, prepare a garden, plant seeds and decorate the house. Tell us about it ...
Answer: When I was little, my mother and I bought flowers in a variety of stores every spring, such as our grocery store, Home Depot, and Lowe's. Every time a beautiful bouquet was sold, my mother was in, ready to buy her and to plant our house in baskets and on the floor.
It would help you to plant the flowers and plant seeds in our garden. Although we have never had much luck with our vegetables and I was afraid of the insects that plunge into the mud, I would still try to help in any way possible.

Answer: When I was younger I helped (not always voluntarily) my parents as they prepared several green spaces around the house and picked different places to buy flowers and vegetables. We have always planted after Memorial Day to avoid frost problems. Although I really do not like this job, I like to mow the lawn when the lawn has dried enough to use my gardening techniques. I had many reasons
Another annual event was cleaning the screens of the windows of the house, which was pretty funny because it was a rather messy task.

Q. If you can choose a home or garden project as a party, invite friends and family members to help you while having fun. What is it Describe how to visualize this ...
Answer: In the past, on Mother's Day, my children, their spouses and grandchildren had come Saturday and Sunday to completely renovate the exterior of my home and gardens. They painted and built the bridge, painted the garage parts, planted flowers and made the necessary repairs.
I cooked their favorite foods, foods that they knew loved them as children, and the comfort products they give to their families as they stretch their money and feed a family of eight. It was a funny moment.
I heard them remembering their early years, things they thought they had escaped. Sometimes it was something new to me and they got away with it; At other times, I knew it, but I said nothing, so you could say they ran away anyway.
The memory of these sources will always live in my head. They offered me an invaluable gift for Mother's Day.
As I look at my home and possessions today, I hope you need another weekend like this, and Mother's Day is approaching.

Q: Is there anything you would like to do this year to rejuvenate your home and / or garden that you have always wanted to do, but have never done?
Answer: You might want to grow vegetables this year. We'll see if this really happens or if I spend another summer accepting gifts from friends with a green thumb.
Q. If you can choose a home or garden project as a party, invite friends and family members to help you while having fun. What is it Describe how to visualize this ...
A. Gardening! I hate the cleanup after the winter (pick up the last leaves, pick up the falling branches). So, if there's a way to make a party out of it, I'm all ears.
Q. What respectable gardening advice can you share with readers?
A. Always ask an expert.
