Working in the kitchen is not limited to the kitchen. If you spend most of your time there, you know there are plenty of other things to do, like washing up utensils and keeping other kitchen appliances clean. One of those essential tools is a cutting board. It is your favorite tool for chopping and mincing raw vegetables and other foods. But often cutting boards get dirty from overuse. However, keeping it clean is imperative to encourage hygienic home cooking practices. Pankaj shared the following ways to clean different types of cutting boards:
1) For a wooden cutting board, first use baking soda and spread it on the board. Take half a lemon and rub the surface. Eventually you will notice foam on it. Leave it for 10 minutes and wash it off with water. Wipe it down with a clean, soft cloth and you'll get the results. Finally rub some oil on your dashboard and use the same soft cloth to clean it again.
Pankaj explained that the baking soda helps remove surface dirt and the lemon acts as a natural disinfectant.
2) Now it's the plastic plate's turn. Spread some baking soda on it. Now mix the salt and water well and spread evenly on the baking sheet. When it dries, add a little vinegar. Use a scouring pad and rub the surface well. Clean it with half a lemon. Use hot water to wash and clean the plastic cutting board. Finally, clean it with a soft cloth.
In the end, the chef advised cleaning the cutting board weekly to keep it from getting dirty.
