After almost a decade in the same house, I had forgotten how painful it can be to move.
The guy, the pack, the kids around your feet, and in our case, a stressed-out cat who marked his territory somewhere, but smelled like everywhere else, and cleaning the last of the garbage before manic cleaning.
We would have liked to outsource all aspects of the movement, but budget constraints came into play and we were forced to do so.
In a few months we'll have to do it again and this time we'll do things differently. I learned some lessons and got the good advice from my colleagues. We have learned that:

* Three ways you can find a move problem
* What can you get out of your garden when you move?
* Are you moving to make sense?
1. Rent moves early (or with friends, with beer and pizza)
We noticed that many good moving companies were already reserved. Pay attention to your costs and reputation. Our rate was based on an hourly rate, but when the big hand crossed at 10 in the morning, we got a ping for 60 minutes of work.
2. Change your address in advance
Contact the insurers, the bank, the council, etc. Include the New Zealand Post Postal Service, which communicates your new address to certain parties, including the Electoral Office and Fly Buys. It will be well spent money.
3. Assemble your packing set
Safes in different sizes. We were fortunate to have a boyfriend who has recently moved, but try supermarkets and liquor stores, which often have reserve chests. Cheap but bulky bags, available in 2-dollar stores, are great for large, soft items such as sheets, pillows, clothes and rugs .
To pack fragile and fragile items, you'll also need tape, a tape dispenser (no one likes to chase the beginning of the roll), bubble paper (or equally good and greener) old newspapers. We sorted out our bedding closet early on and found towels, pillowcases and washcloths a great way to pack things like wine glasses and dishes. Make sure you have some permanent markers to label the boxes.
4. Marie Kondo, get out of you.
Ship and classify your belongings piece by piece, almost at the time of signing the house contract. Even if you take only one box a day during this process, the pressure on the day of the move will be reduced. This is the perfect time to give away or sell this dresser, get rid of unnecessary kitchen utensils or unwanted clothes.
Start with things you do not need every day. Books and jewelry can be packed early. And you'll be surprised how much your toy will miss your kids.
Attacks k itchen at first. How many glasses of wine, cups, utensils and kitchen utensils do you really need? Think like the owner of a motel and leave the bare necessities to prepare your meals for the next few weeks.
5. Color code of the boxes that relate to your rooms
If only we had done that, it would have been much easier to find our iron, hair dryer and Alexa, they are still missing ...
6. Remove the boxes immediately
If there is room, maybe in a secure garage or basement, pack the boxes. This clears the house and ends the desire to break into their homes to look for something later. If this is not possible, fill an entire room or free a large room where you can leave the boxes intact.
7. Clean when packing
Suck behind beds, clean doors and closets to save time and energy on the move day .
8. Pay someone to clean the oven
If your budget is limited to outsourcing, so it is. Cleaning the stove is at best a shitty job, not to mention one of the most stressful ones. I can imagine something worse than cleaning the oven cleaner and metal grills the night we left. Dreadful
THINGS
What you can take with you in your garden and what not when you move.
9. Leave your house to eat
Avoid large supermarkets in the weeks prior to your move. Try everything you have to make transfer easier and clean the fridge, freezer and pantry.
10. Fill, close and close the drawers
It is not necessary to empty the drawers, store them as far as possible, close them and send them.
11. Avoid an electric nightmare
Put electrical appliances in a separate box. Take a picture before disassembling these parts to see how confused the cables are when they arrive at their new home. Transparent, reconnectable sandwich bags are perfect for screws and small parts that are needed later.
12. Pack the essentials for the next day
Invest in large transparent boxes with lids. They are perfect for the essentials you need on the first night of your new home, including toiletries, breakfast in the morning and tea and coffee. It's a good idea to include two more for you clothing and your family, work wear and school uniforms (including shoes), clothes from bed for the first night, towels and details to bring a good seal: cooking is the last thing you should to do your mind
13. Make room for your keys
And be sure to put them back there during the shift. My device ended up in my son's folder.
14. Assign a babysitter
If this is not possible, ask your friends and family to look after the children on the move day. We are always grateful to our friends who have taken our little children for this stressful day.
15. Keep your equipment and cleaning products always at hand.
You will need it on the day of change and in your new home: now we have two of everything.
