Councilor Torres, non-profit associations are pooling their forces to clean and maintain the Bronx

A partnership between a city council and a Manhattan-based non-profit organization enables the Bronx neighborhoods to stay in top form.

Graffiti labels in places like Barker Avenue on Allerton Avenue can be a big scary to those spending the day. But since 2016, a partnership between City Councilor Ritchie Torres and the nonprofit Fedcap Association has guaranteed the cleanliness and maintenance of Allerton.

"We have a cleanup team that graffiti graffiti, clean up the garbage, and eliminate invasive weeds that infest rodents," said Torres.

The works councils come from calls, e-mails and social networks directly from citizens, civic associations and heads of state. A responsive cleaning team comes from Fedcap, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing vocational training for young people and young adults.

Torres says come closer when he sees something, because "we need to be vigilant to protect our quality of life in the Bronx, because if we do not clean our own neighborhood, no one else will."
