If you're trapped in your home and worried about the spread of COVID-19, take a moment to schedule a keyboard cleaning program.
Your keyboard is definitely one of the most used devices on your desktop. Therefore, it makes sense to keep them as clean as possible, like your smartphone .
With that said, you can't just put it in the sink and do the dishes. Instead, you need to clean it carefully. Depending on the keyboard type, this can be a tedious task. Also note that regardless of the cleaning method, you must ensure that your keyboard is turned off or unplugged before cleaning.
There are two main types of keyboards. First of all, there are chiclet-style keyboards with flat touches that don't separate. You usually see them on laptops and smaller keyboards. I call the other types large keyboards. This category includes mechanical keyboards and other large keyboards with removable keys.
Chiclet keyboards are the easiest to clean because you can easily clean them with a damp cloth and soap or a detergent containing at least 70% alcohol. Be sure to stick to a dry cloth, as no moisture should accumulate on the keyboard.
To go further, you can clean the dots between the buttons with a Q-Tip or a can of compressed air.
If you have a larger keyboard with removable keys, you can easily remove it and wash it in a wash basin filled with soapy water. Before disassembling, be sure to take a photo of the key design to make assembly easier. If you've never taken a keyboard apart, you can put a pen or popsicle stick under each key and remove with a little force. There are also special key removal tools.
While these keys are drying, you can take a Q-Tip or a small brush again to remove the rest of the debris and debris hidden on your keyboard.
If you take the time to clean your keyboard at the end of a busy day or week, you need to clear the mouse a little.
