HAILEY, Idaho - Steri-Clean CEO and Emmy Award-nominated Cleaning Expert / Host at "Hoarders" Cory Chalmers has released a press release providing appropriate cleaning and disinfection advice for the common good.
"I can't just sit back and inform the uninformed American public about proper cleaning and disinfection," said Chalmers. "There are vulnerable lives, companies that could be held responsible, and a vulnerable population that needs and deserves accurate information."
Chalmers and his Steri-Clean national team recommend the following:
• The spraying of disinfectants on worktops, door handles and other frequently touched surfaces is not sufficient to remove the area of the infection.
• Surfaces must first be cleaned with soap and water or another alcohol or bleach product to remove "biofilms", the cell material left behind by human contact that prevents the disinfectant from effectively reaching and penetrating the virus.
• To confirm that a surface has been properly cleaned, ATP monitors must be used to assess cell activity on the surfaces.
Clean test results with a minimum of ATP ensure that the surfaces have been cleaned sufficiently so that the disinfectant can penetrate the existing viruses. ATP controls the adenosine triphosphate test, which is the energy stored in all cells. Although viruses do not contain cells, the removal of biofilms and cell activity on all surfaces ensures that disinfectants can properly kill viruses.
• Once the surface is cleaned, a hospital grade EPA approved disinfectant listed as a "new pathogen" disinfectant should be sprayed onto the surface and left in place for the correct "hold time" effect. . If the disinfectant dries before the prescribed dwell time, it is completely ineffective.
• Finally, avoid storing detergents and personal protective equipment that professionals need to properly disinfect and create safe environments in emergency vehicles, hospitals, and other health care facilities, government buildings, commercial buildings, retirement homes, and dormitories.
When these stocks are stored, professionals cannot cope with these critical environments, which ultimately leads to a shortage and more lives.
As CEO of Steri-Clean, Chalmers has more than 25 years of experience disinfecting a variety of environments that are exposed to Ebola, C. Difficult, Hepatitis, MRSA, Norovirus and others. Microorganisms
Chalmers urges the public to be smart and educated before choosing a mass disinfection company in a health center or at work.
In order to find a qualified company, Chalmers asks the public to confirm that the service provider follows the following protocol:
• Uses hospital-grade CDC-approved procedures and EPA-registered disinfectants with a broadband destruction complaint.
• Use fully closed personal protective equipment with full face masks.
• Provides thorough cleaning to remove biosolids from all surfaces.
• Uses appropriate disinfectants through one or more delivery methods, including room-wide electrostatic mist systems, mist sprays, and battery or direct spray systems. y
• Provides a team of trained and specialized technicians with the equipment and experience to manage extensive disinfection services for commercial buildings, healthcare facilities and vehicles, homes, and schools.
