DUNDALK, Maryland (WJZ) - The cleaning of the Dundalk monuments dedicated to the 1812 war has become an annual tradition.
It is hosted by the Clean Bread and Cheese Creek Community.
"I don't care if it's a year or a 1000 years," said John Long, founder of Clean Bread and Cheese Creek Community Cleanups. "If you died defending our country, you deserve to be honored."
The organization does several cleanings a year and has been doing this special cleaning for 12 years.
Karen Cleet cleaned her children with cleaning.
"It's also a great way to maintain that social distance and spend time outdoors while doing something good," said Cleet.
As they leave these monuments in perfect condition, they plan to return next year.
"We will do this for as long as possible," said Long, "it is not time to honor those who have fought for our country."
You can follow her Facebook page for more information about upcoming cleanings.
