Adding a new strap to your Apple Watch will make it feel like a brand new product no matter how old the watch is. The trick, however, is to keep these tapes clean. Read the tips below to keep your bracelets looking new.
The joy of Apple Watch straps
The Apple Watch is arguably the company's most personal technology. By that I mean, you really can customize it so that it looks and feels unique with the hundreds of thousands of watch faces you can create.
And not only that, but you can also customize the hardware as the Apple Watch can easily swap out bands. In fact, the ability to swap out bands, and the large number of official Apple bands and bands offered by third-party providers, is one of the biggest advantages of owning an Apple Watch over competing smartwatches.
The bracelets make the Apple Watch more versatile and definitely more modern. For example, if you run or swim, you may want to use a plastic sports band to keep your Apple Watch on. But snowboarding or climbing? The easily adjustable nylon strap could be better. And show up on a hot day? You can't go wrong with an elegant Milanese buckle.
The problem, however, is that our Apple watches are always on our wrists and the watch or bracelet can get dirty easily. Fortunately, like other watches, you can clean the Apple Watch straps. In fact, Apple Watch bands can be easier to clean than traditional watch bands because they can be removed from the device and handled separately.
However, depending on your group, there are better ways to clean them up than others.
A word of warning
The Apple Watch band that you own and want to clean has its own cleaning and care instructions provided by Apple or the third party band manufacturer. Always follow these instructions first. Otherwise there is a risk of damaging the bracelet.
The instructions we give below are Apple's own recommendations for its Apple Watch bands. Your wristband may have different cleaning and care instructions. So always check with the bracelet manufacturer (Apple or otherwise) before attempting to clean it and use their recommendations on anyone else you see online. And of course, use common sense before attempting to clean your bracelet.
Before it begins
Always remove the band from Apple Watch before attempting to clean a band. If the group is divided into two songs, clean up each song individually for the best results (so don't keep the group's songs together, in other words).
How to clean Apple Watch leather straps
Leather bracelets are the most difficult to clean because they are the most delicate. However, if yours needs cleaning, Apple will prompt you to:
- Clean the leather parts of the belt with a "non-abrasive, lint-free cloth".
- Apple says dampen the cloth with water if necessary. However, DO NOT immerse your bracelet in water or run it under the tap. It could damage the leather.
- After cleaning the tape with a damp cloth, allow the tape to air dry. Do not use the bracelet until it is completely dry.
How to clean metal, plastic, and nylon Apple Watch bands
The following instructions explain how to clean Apple Watch bands made of materials other than leather. You should also follow these instructions when cleaning metal clasps or parts of a leather strap.
- Clean the belt with a "non-abrasive, lint-free cloth".
- Although some straps can be dipped in water or kept under the tap, it's best to dampen the non-abrasive, lint-free cloth and run it through the strap if you need some water to remove it. Tasks.
- When you've rubbed the strap very gently, you can hand dry it with a dry, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth.
Once the bracelet is dry, you can put it back on your Apple Watch and back on your wrist.
