Celebrated on October 2nd annually, National Guardian's Day is the perfect opportunity to recognize and appreciate gatekeepers who work hard to keep facilities clean and hygienic. While the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the importance of cleanliness, the work of the guards is valued more than ever . Unlike many people who still work remotely, the guards remain on the front lines and work diligently to stop the spread of COVID-19 with improved cleaning protocols.
Due to the limitations of the pandemic, this year's celebrations will be low-key but heartfelt. Seth Ferriell, CEO of SSC Services for Education, a Knoxville, Tennessee-based company that cleans more than 150 education customers in 27 states, said customers always wanted to remember the day.
"There's no question that social distancing has ruined a lot of our normal National Goalkeeper Day celebrations, but that hasn't stopped teams and clients from finding ways to show their appreciation: Big bodies working to get the Thank employees from shifts, sweepstakes, gift cards, and snack packages in lieu of lunch, "he said.
National Today offers the following activities to help you identify goalies:
- Ask the residents of the building to find a gift card for the guards.
- Have students create thank you cards for their school babysitters
- Let the supervisor know that your employees are doing an excellent job.
- Have your lunch delivered to the site guards.
Make extra effort to pick up your trash to make life easier for the custodians, not just on National Custodian Day, but every day. And when you visit your workplace or public toilet and find that they are well stocked with soap, toilet paper, and paper towels, don't forget to thank the caretaker.
