Baking Soda Tips: 10 Home Uses for Baking Soda

You don't have to spend a fortune cleaning products. In fact, most of the things you will need are already in your kitchen cabinet. Cleaning professionals like Ms. Hinch sometimes use foods like white vinegar or lemon to clean their homes. Baking soda is another example of an ingredient that can be used in recipes and household chores.   Express.co.uk   shows 10 household uses for baking soda.

Is Baking Soda the Same as Baking Soda?

Baking soda and baking soda are different things.

The two are propellants that look exactly the same but are slightly different.

Baking soda needs acid AND liquid to activate baked goods and rise, but baking soda only needs liquid to activate.

Baking soda is therefore not as strong as baking soda. So when you replace baking soda with baking soda, you need to use three times as much baking soda as baking soda.

On the other hand, baking soda and baking soda are the same.

Both are officially known as NaHCO3 or sodium bicarbonate.

People in the UK and Australia tend to call it baking soda, but Americans often say baking soda.

Carpets and mattresses

Baking soda is great at removing stains and odors, making it the perfect tool for cleaning mattresses and carpets.

Of course, you might want to do a thorough clean that wets these surfaces and uses a detergent, but the baking soda will refresh them and remove the bad bacteria that lurk on the material.

Spread a solution of baking soda and water over the stains and spread the rest of the tub over the mattress or carpet.

Leave to rest overnight or as long as possible, then vacuum up any remains or wipe the pasty solution with a damp cloth.

You can clean the inside of your shoes in the same way.

Clog holes or drains

If your drain is clogged or smells bad, baking soda can solve this problem.

Simply pour 200g of baking soda (about half a cup) into your sink or bathtub drain, then pour in half a cup of vinegar.

Cover the hole with a damp cloth and let the mixture glow for five minutes.

Flush the drain with hot water to remove any debris and you should have a clean drain.

walls

The walls are also pretty dirty with unfortunate hand prints and accidental food splashes and other unfortunate accidents.

Use a damp sponge to apply baking soda to the stains on the wall.

Carefully remove the stain with the rough side of the sponge.

Oven and microwave

Ovens and microwaves constantly build up stubborn dirt, so cleaning up can be very painful.

Take the oven racks and trays and the turntable out of the microwave.

Mix a bowl of baking soda with water or white vinegar to make a paste.

Spread the batter on the walls of the oven and microwave, being careful not to create any heating elements, then let it sit overnight.

Wipe the walls with a damp cloth to remove the baking soda, then sprinkle white vinegar on top.

You will find that the mixture begins to foam and shine. Then you can wipe them with a damp cloth.

Sprinkle the grids with baking powder and sprinkle with vinegar again.

Dip them in hot water after they start to foam and wash off the dirt with a sponge and water.

fridge

Fridges can often smell bad and baking soda is the perfect remedy.

Leave an open can of baking soda in the bottom of your refrigerator overnight or longer.

The baking soda absorbs and neutralizes odors in the refrigerator.

Plates and pans

Sometimes dishes and pots are too difficult to clean and can never be cleaned perfectly.

Add a few tablespoons of baking soda and dish soap to the pot in question and fill it with warm water.

Let it sit for a few moments, then scrub the pan with a damp sponge covered with baking soda.

sponge

We use sponges to clean things around all of our homes, so it's no wonder they absolutely suck at times.

Instead of constantly throwing away and buying new sponges, you can use baking soda to clean them up.

Dip the sponge in a sink or bucket filled with about a quart of water and at least four tablespoons of baking soda.

Let it sit for a while, then let it dry naturally, it shouldn't smell anymore.
