TikTok user shares trick for cleaning stoves
The New Years Star has plans for you to get better and we are all inspired to work hard and achieve something over the next 12 months. There is no point in being successful in a dirty house. So why not take out gloves and detergent and wash off last year's dirt? Express.co.uk spoke to the Lynsey Queen of Clean to find out what jobs she needs to tackle to get the New Year off to a good start.
fridge
At Christmas the fridge is always full to the brim and it can get pretty chaotic.
Lynsey said, "Your fridge probably picked up some batter during the holiday season, with extra food and people coming and going, so clean and messy."
First, check the dates on the glasses and sauces. When you know you won't be using them anymore, remove them!
There's no need to waste space and let food rot in your fridge in January.
Wardrove
Same goes for kitchen cabinets - give them some attention!
Lynsey recommended checking the dates on the food packaging and getting rid of anything you no longer want or need.
She also suggested "grouping foods like" which means taking everything out of the cupboards and sharing it.
Keep your bread together, pasta together, sandwiches together, rice together, spices together - the list is endless!
Don't forget to disinfect everything before putting everything back in the cupboards.
Lynsey said, "Clean cabinets and shelves with hot, soapy water."

Gifts
If you have a lot of great Christmas presents this year, you probably don't know where to put them.
Lynsey said, "It's important that you sort your Christmas gifts and make a home for them."
Everything needs a designated space to avoid clutter. Now is the time to find out.
washing machine and dryer
Did you know that your washing machine and dryer need to be cleaned several times a year?
Yes, most people leave their machines to build up dirt and grime over the years and wonder why their clothes don't come out clean.
Don't worry, the work is pretty simple and Lynsey has broken it down step by step.
She said, "Freshen up your washer and dryer, the things that are clean for you need a little love.
"Run soda through your washing machine on the highest setting to cool down, empty the filter, and clean any debris from the drawer."
"Make sure there is no lint on the filter, rinse it off with hot soapy water and empty the main filter."
oven
Christmas is all about food, so you've probably used your oven to make lots of sugary goodies and let's not forget the greasy roast!
Lynsey said, "Clean your oven thoroughly in January because you would have been working overtime over the Christmas period.
"Thoroughly clean with an oven scraper to remove grease and dirt deposits."
Most people start out by removing the racks and trays and soaking them in soapy water while first scrubbing the oven walls and door.
You can use a commercial oven cleaner to get the job done, or you can make your own cleaner using baking soda, water, and vinegar, or just lemons and water.
container
Your trash cans are likely full to the brim, groceries are missing, and lots of packaging piles up after it's thrown away.
Lynsey said, "Clean and sanitize all containers in the house.
"Cleaning and disinfecting to optimize good hygiene standards."
You can use any antibacterial spray and liquid disinfectant to get the job done.

Behind the furniture
We don't have time to clean every square inch of our homes every week, so it's probably a good time to tackle this job now.
The amount of rubbish, dirt, and dust that falls behind and under furniture is shocking.
Lynsey said, "Move all of your furniture around one at a time and keep it clean all year round."
The detergents you use will depend on your floor.
walls
Walls collect dirt and stains just like floors; Think about the number of times you touch the walls of your home.
Skirting boards are designed to protect the base of the wall from scratches from furniture, but they usually also collect dirt.
Lynsey said, "Vacuum and clean the baseboards before freshening up the walls with a mild sugar soap solution."
Hole plugs
There aren't many things more disgusting than a hair-filled pinhole.
January is the time to check the bolt holes and deal with what is blocking them.
Lynsey said, "Clean the plug holes, check for any clogs, and clean them with a mixture of baking soda, white vinegar, and water."
The carpets
Carpets can be cozy and act as a layer of insulation, but they can get messy.
Lynsey said, "Clean your carpets by giving them a really good vacuum first.
"Then freshen them up with a carpet washer and bring them back to life.
"Air dry them by opening the windows instead of turning on the heater."
Sofas
We've all been on the couch a bit more than we would have wished for in 2020, so they're sure to be dirtier and more sunken than usual.
Lynsey said, "Freshen up your couches with a good vacuum cleaner, then remove any pillows and remove stains with an upholstery cleaner."
Next, remove the removable pillowcases and put them in the washing machine.
Let them dry and replace the newly cleaned covers for a new looking sofa.
Spider web
Cobwebs crawl every winter and stay there until you remove them yourself.
Lynsey said, "Reach out for the cobwebs and lamps and attack them."
This work is very simple, but it needs to be done because dusty lightbulbs affect the brightness of the lightbulbs and cobwebs are unsightly.
In plants
If you have a lot of plants in and around your home, make an effort to really care for them in 2021.
Did you know to clean and water them?
Lynsey said, "Use a recycled makeup brush to wipe the leaves and clean your houseplant. Then pour as usual.
louvre
Your blinds need to be cleaned inside and out as nobody likes to look at a dirty shop window.
Dust is also harmful to your respiratory health. Hence, it's important to start the year cleaning this part of your home.
Lynsey said, "Dust the blinds with a utility glove on an old white sock."
