The 34p washing machine cleaning trick that removes mold in drawers in seconds

Have you ever wondered why your clothes smell a little funny after a cycle? It turns out your washing machine might have mold.

It's true that even washing machines can develop harmful black mold on the drawers and seals, and require a thorough cleaning to keep them fresh and dry.

When it comes to the detergent drawer of a washing machine, it can often become moldy due to moisture build-up. It doesn't help that these tight spaces are difficult to clean.

So what's the best way to get your washing machine drawer squeaky clean without splashing out on single-use cleaners that might not even work?

Well, the process is very simple and you can use any common household item to remove mold from drawers and grout.

In a recent post on Ms. Hinch's Cleaning Tips Facebook group, someone asked, "Anyone have any tips on how to get rid of black mold in the washing machine drawer?"

Clean freaks were quick to respond, with several urging the woman to take out the drawer and soak it in a bowl of water and washing-up liquid, available from Asda for just 34p .

One person said, "Dishwashing liquid is great for this, easy and very effective."

For best results, Mrs. Hinch fans recommend cleaning the drawer after each use to prevent mold from forming.

Other cleaning fanatics can now use white vinegar in place of dishwashing liquid, as the product is known for its versatility in a variety of cleaning tasks. It can dissolve hard water and penetrate dirt, making it ideal for washing machine drawers.

Another alternative is to put the drawer in the dishwasher if you have one, or soak it in water with a dishwasher tab.
