"Soak your musty-smelling clothes in 1 part bleach and 3 parts hot water for at least 30 minutes. The bleach penetrates your clothes, killing any mold and getting rid of the 'damp' smell.
Before using bleach, households may want to test it on an invisible part of the garment, e.g. B. at the hem to ensure it doesn't leave permanent stains.
Once households have gotten the musty smell out of their clothes, there are several ways to help keep it out of the clothes.
The first option is to "never" hang up or fold clothes when they are wet, but to wait until they are completely dry, explains the laundry expert. They warned, "Storing clothes while they're still damp creates the perfect humid environment for mold and mildew, which causes clothes to smell musty."
