However, when cooking, stubborn stains such as burnt parts or rust usually spoil the beauty of the utensil. These stains are not easily removed by regular washing, leaving the utensils looking old and dirty. There are methods such as scrubbing and acid cleaning to remove stains, but these solutions often damage the cookware material. Not all are made from a tough material that can stand up to these harsh cleaning methods, and ceramic cookware is one of them.
But don't worry, if you're also having trouble cleaning that expensive ceramic cookware, here are some ways to make it look like new again.
1. Allow to cool before cleaning
Before you wash a ceramic pot, you should bring it to room temperature. Washing hot pots and pans can damage the material and shorten the life of your cookware. It is always recommended to avoid drastic temperature changes to prolong the life of the ceramic non-stick coating.
2. Baking Soda to the Rescue
To reduce the risk of burnt cookware, always coat your pan with cooking spray, butter, or other oil before cooking. But if the damage is already done, you can sprinkle about two tablespoons of dry baking soda on the burned area and rub it in a circular motion with a damp sponge. However, do not use abrasive cleaning pads. The baking soda and warm water mixture is also good for removing stains from the bottom of the pan.
3. White Vinegar
Like baking soda, vinegar is effective in removing stubborn stains from ceramic items. Prepare a 1:4 solution of vinegar and water and pour the mixture into the pan. Soak it overnight, be sure to cover the entire stained area and rinse with water in the morning.
4. Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a cleaning agent known to remove stubborn stains from ceramic cookware due to its bleaching properties. This can be purchased at any pharmacy or parapharmacy. Simply cover the stained area with hydrogen peroxide and leave it on for half an hour. Then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
5. Never scratch with metal
We often tend to scrape stains out of a pan with a spoon or knife. But using metal utensils for the same reason can damage the ceramic coating of cookware. You can choose any of the above methods or use wooden spoon to scrape off the stains.
Remember that ceramic cookware cannot be cleaned like other utensils, as doing so can permanently damage pots and pans and ruin the expensive cookware and cookware you have invested in.
