It cannot have gone unnoticed that the mornings are a bit lighter and the days are getting longer.
Spring is fast approaching, which means it's time to switch up your cleansing routine.
To help you have fun with your homework, we've reached out to the pros to share their top tips for getting started...
Plan your cleaning
"I like a list!" raves Laura Harnett, founder of Seep Green Cleaning Products ( theepcompany.com ).
She recommends planning your spring cleaning by room, including the small tasks on your list as well as the big ones because they're so satisfying to check off.
"Create a playlist of your favorite upbeat songs or find podcasts to listen to that will help you get chores done when you come in to clean," she says.
"If you do this now, you don't have to procrastinate or put off cleaning. I always involve my children and ask them to choose three tasks from the list.
If you plan ahead and incorporate them early, it will feel like an event at first, she says. "Don't forget to let them know what extras are waiting for everyone when the job is done."
clear
"To effectively tidy up before spring cleaning, get everything out of closets and drawers and organize them in a systematic way," suggests Harnett.
"My simple thing is to put things in their place at home. It's amazing how much stuff gets scattered around the house over the course of a year: books by the bed, children's toys in every room and the cupboard under the sink overflowing with all sorts of things.
"When everything is there, you can see exactly what you have." Hart continues. "Then decide what to keep, donate to charity, or share on apps like Olio or Nextdoor . Vinted is great for clothing because you don't get a commission on what you sell.
Organize kitchen cabinets and fridge.
A well-organized closet and a clean refrigerator free up a lot of space.
Laura Mountford, aka Laura Cleanaholic ( @lauaracleanaholic ), says: "Empty each cupboard one at a time; Attack one per day to keep it manageable. Get rid of all expired items and clean out the closets.
She recommends investing in jars, containers, baskets, dividers, or hooks to make the space work for you and stay cleaner longer.
Use disinfectant sprays
"Sanitizing sprays are essential when it comes to adding that final, fresh touch to your pre-spring cleaning routine, especially in your bathroom or kitchen," says Olivia Young, cleaning chemist at Astonish ( astonish.co.uk ).
"However, there are more uses for them than you might think." For example, Young says cleaning radiators with a disinfectant spray fills the house with a nice, fresh scent when you turn them on.
She also recommends cleaning your welcome mat with disinfectant to ensure your home smells nice as soon as people walk through the door.
"Disinfectants are also useful for removing unpleasant odors from trash cans that are otherwise difficult to remove," Young suggests. "Just spray concentrated disinfectant onto a cotton swab and place it at the bottom of your trash can."
Concentrated sprays have a stronger scent, and products like Astonish's Zesty Lemon (priced at £1.29, Astonish ) eliminate bad odors and kill harmful bacteria.
Offer your vegetation
"Give houseplants some love and a new life by transplanting those that have outgrown their old containers and cutting back the old stems," says Mountford. "Plant pots are a great way to add something new to your home decor and you don't have to spend a fortune.
"You can always find nice pots on Facebook Marketplace or charity shops and then paint them your own style."
While you're at it, place the plants in the bathroom and give them a gentle shower, which will also remove the dust.
Invest in practical storage solutions
To make your closet space more efficient, replace bulky hangers with flimsy ones, add hooks in closet doors, and use drawer dividers to organize items, says Mountford.
"Buy vacuum bags to store bulky items like winter comforters, blankets and coats to free up more space."
