Spring cleaning: Seasonal flowering should not seem like a chore

Admit it: spends the winter with its completely closed home avoiding the cold made it less clean than inside, even with regular storage.

According to the American Cleaning Institute, 76% of Americans will clean their entire home this spring. As the weather warms, totally clean bathrooms, kitchens, rooms, and bedrooms live up to extra cleaning, while we reduce clutter and eliminate allergens and germs.

It's just a fact of life when houses are heated: heat is dusty, says Patty Martin, store manager of the maids of Greater Lehigh Valley.

Whether you hire a cleaning service or choose to complete the task, there are some things that must be done first spring cleaning.

"The important thing is to avoid spreading dust from the top of the room," says Carol Gibiser, owner of Merry Maids in Emmaus. Start by replacing the bulbs and batteries of all smoke or carbon monoxide detectors in the house.

Then work from top to bottom rooms: wash the windows, the tops of the doorframes, then blinds and shutters, window frames, shelves, baseboards and finally to the floor. Do not forget to vacuum upholstery if the fabric or dust, if it is leather.

Gibiser says his department receives requests from customers cleaning the wood to wash and place carpets and floors, things that are not necessarily cleaned all the time.

You should not be alone if you approach the project of this house.

You can also involve the children and even do a cleaning game. The American Cleaning Institute recommends letting children concentrate on tasks that do not help with solutions such as vacuuming, empty containers, storing toys, books and other items to cleanse. ; and dust with a pen or rag.

Create a cleaning game by hiding prices that kids can find when they sit down. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after cleaning.

If you have asthma or allergies, dust and keeping your home clean will do much to keep their symptoms at bay.

"If it's not so dusty, you can breathe better," says Gibiser.

Martin agrees.

"Do you have a very good dust vacuum cleaner to remove," he says, and twice a week recommends sucking. Martin also says that toilets avoid cleaning solutions that aggravate allergies or asthma with smoke from cleaning products. "I do not have many stuffed animals or things like that."

An air purifier also helps to reduce allergens, she says.

Nancy Bock, senior vice president of education at the American Cleaning Institute, gave some advice so that the parts that are most commonly used are cleaned daily, so cleaning the spring is not a tedious task. :

  • Bathing: Remove soap film and hard water deposits by cleaning the bath and shower walls after use.
  • Kitchen: Clean while cooking and clean all spills, including in the microwave. In case of spillage of meat juice, clean immediately with a paper towel and after cooking, treat with a disinfectant cleaner to remove the germs remaining on the surface.
  • Living Room: Aspirate frequently to remove dirt and food debris that can enter the fabric and cause wear. By using glass cleaners, protect and frame illustration of the solution on a cloth and not directly on the glass syringes, this will prevent it from seeping into the frame or image.
  • Rooms: Wash the bed linen weekly to keep the animals' dust and hair at bay. Keep the cabinet doors closed to avoid dust and clean the blinds with a damp cloth once a week.
