Double oak spring cleaning tips
Spring weather can ruin your patio and our local canals. Here are some tips to get your landscape back in shape and keep your local lakes, streams and rivers clean:
Avoid placing permanent structures in the flood-prone areas of your yard, and try to keep these areas clear in the spring. Spring storms can produce stagnant water and voluntary currents that carry loose soil and dirt from your garden into currents and ditches along the roadside, where they are transported downstream to the backyards. Local water.
Keep grass debris, leaves and debris away from local waterways and wetlands . Compost your garden waste or throw it in your street car. Garden waste that ends up in wetlands or streams contributes to algae growth in summer and makes the water green and smelly.
Stabilize your soil and increase infiltration by planting native plants or trees with deep roots. The grass roots only protrude two to three inches into the ground, so they can hardly hold on when water flows. However, native flowers and herbs can have root systems that are four to twelve feet deep! These deep roots anchor plants and prevent the soil from disappearing. They also increase the amount of water that the soil can hold, which means that more water flows into underground aquifers and less reaches rainwater channels.
If you live by a stream or wetland, it is important to get a healthy, uncut damper along the coast. A bank or stream with native trees and plants keeps the ground stable when it rains. Buffers also trap and filter out many contaminants in the drain water.
Code application message
Double Oak owner, the city is asking for your help.
Enforcement of the code actively implements the city's code of conduct and responds to concerns and complaints about various possible violations of the code in relation to property standards, illegal signage, etc.
Compliance with the city's code of conduct helps us all to be good neighbors and promotes pride in the neighborhoods and the city. There are codes to set and maintain health, safety, and aesthetic standards for the community.
The weather forecast for the next two weeks looks good. The city asks all homeowners to review their property and ensure that: tall grass and weeds are completely cut; Tree branches crossing a city street are held over 12 feet; Ground vegetation and / or branches are cut off from a road sign and / or a traffic sign; Check your property from the street to make sure there is no vegetation growing on the public street. When you're close, cut the vegetation off the road; The property is free from dirt, debris and old signage.
The city reminds all residents to remove their car after repairs to Republic Street Services.
Information on the display and signage of flea markets can be found in the City Code of Ordinances.
The owners are responsible for the drainage of their trench.
The city sincerely thanks people and neighborhoods for maintaining the shape and size of the medians. If you know a neighbor who may need help, contact them. If your children need community service, they are invited to mow, eat grass and pick up trash, and the city will be happy to write you a letter.
Double Oak residents are the best and always help when asked.
