Half-overthrow in Cedar City, partial discharge of the diesel fuel load

The incident would have occurred just before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of 2400 North and National Highway 130 on the west side of the intersection at exit 62 of Interstate 15. «A red Peterbilt semitrailer pulls from a tank truck full of diesel fuel.
Authorities and witnesses at the scene said the driver was driving northwest on the SR-130, trying to turn north at 2400 when the entire aircraft overturned to the right just after the corner of the intersection.
Police sergeant from Cedar City. Nate Williams told Cedar City News that no injuries were reported and the driver remained at the scene. The driver received a traffic offer for driving too fast for conditions, Williams said.
Around 5:30 p.m., about three hours after the accident, the crews were still clearing the scene and requiring a reaction to dangerous substances. A large sand cart was run in to prevent fuel from running down a nearby hill and into the gutter on the sidewalk to the north. Holes were drilled in the side of the tank to allow the remaining unfiltered cargo to be pumped into another tanker and unloaded.
Cedar City fire chief Mike Phillips said at the scene of the scene that the cleanup would take a few hours before dark.

Jeff Richards, a native of Salt Lake City with family roots in Panguitch, lived in Moab for 20 years before joining St. George News.
