House Republicans on Monday touted a plan they are announcing to ensure "cleaner American energy" and highlighted existing legislation to encourage the use of natural and nuclear gas.
A press release consolidates legislation as the House of Representatives agenda for a cleaner energy future that aims to achieve a "global competitive advantage". The Democrats have earlier this month released its own plan to bring to the country in 2050 on the way to CO2 neutrality.

A Congressional watchdog is investigating reports that some "clean coal" tax credit recipients have increased rather than reduced pollution.
The multi-million dollar grant went to many large corporations over the years, including financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs Group, pharmaceutical company Mylan, and DTE Energy Co, Detroit's leading utility company, according to Reuters. The IRS awards the grant based on laboratory results rather than real-world broadcasts, Reuters reported for the first time on Monday .
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) opened the investigation after a Reuters investigation found that some companies receiving the subsidy were exposed to higher levels of pollution. A GAO official confirmed to The Hill that he is investigating the grant at the request of Congress.
