I'll just say it so you understand where I'm from: I was born and raised in California. Or in other words, I love my fresh produce, summer drinks , frozen matcha lattes ... you know, all the clichés. And since moving to New York a few months ago, I haven't missed much more than the waves and the weather. The truth is that living in California makes it easy to take for granted the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, most of which are available year-round. Whether it's strawberries , broccolini or avocados, let's just say the California fruit and vegetable scene is different.
So here on the east coast, as the days get shorter and the weather gets colder again, I've been doing whatever it takes to get my fruit and veg. I've gotten creative, I've made wilted beets into pesto or applesauce for the hand pie filling, but somehow I feel like I haven't had anything really fresh in a millennium. That is, until I took the Magic Bullet Mini Juicer for a spin. I suddenly discovered that I was making jars of vitamin-filled liquid products daily to quench my thirst. It's like a sip from home.
Well, I'm no stranger to juicing (I'm from California, remember?), but TBH, I've always been pretty anti-juicing. More often than not, I'd rather pay a ridiculously high price for my cold-pressed carrots, apples, and ginger (my favorite) than pull a heavy, multi-piece machine out of my closet and deal with the headache of cleaning. So if that's your experience of juicing at home, I guess it's not that appealing. That's where this magical machine comes in : it's more or less the opposite of those painful devices we're used to. It's compact, super fast and extremely easy to clean. These days my juice is symptom free and purely satisfying.
Since the juicer's blade and strainer are combined into one efficient conical disc, assembly and disassembly of the handy device is child's play. To turn it on, I simply place the piece of metal in a larger plastic container, then secure it to the top of the 400-watt motor base with two locking arms, and voila. Oh, and best of all, when I'm done making my healthy brew, I disassemble it (in seconds) and throw the pieces in the dishwasher to make cleanup easier than ever.
The juicer has a spacious chute that can hold anything from half a bunch of chard to three Bugs Bunny-sized carrots, effortlessly fulfilling your juicing destiny in what seems like milliseconds. It's a huge relief not to have to fiddle with the chute to slide the spinach into the machine, an all too familiar experience when using juicers. Because I can fit so many things at once and the powerful motor does its job so well, I end up juicing for half as long as I would with another machine. This is a game changer when it comes to morning juice fasting.
I also love that when I'm working with large batches of juice (I usually make enough for a few days, keep some in the included 16-ounce to-go glass) I don't have to stop and empty the trash . With a capacity of 52 ounces, I find that just juicing non-stop. But this large container does not make storing the Mini Juicer difficult. In fact, this must-have model takes up the least cabinet space of any juicer I've owned and operated.
