You can sometimes hand-wash microfiber towels for a quick clean, and according to Busy Bee Cleaning Co. , damp towels can be even more effective at picking up and trapping dust on the fibers. Only use lukewarm water to wash your hands. Never use hot water on microfiber, says Unilever's Cleanipedia ; Just like bleach and fabric softener, it can do more harm than good. Let the towels soak for a few minutes, then run them back and forth under the tap, using only your hands, to remove dust, dirt, and grime from the fibers. Wring the cloth out well and it's ready to use damp, or you can let it air dry.
For machine washing, a cold cycle without detergent or fabric softener is best. If you must recycle other items, especially avoid cotton and stick to lint-free and synthetic materials. If you must use a tumble dryer to dry clothes, use a cool setting.
