RENO, Nevada (KOLO) - NV Energy has compiled a list of maintenance tips during the hot summer months:
o Set the thermostat to 78 degrees when you are at home and higher when you are not present.
o Store your air conditioner by periodically changing the air filters and cleaning the condenser coils to make sure they are free of debris.
o Replace incandescent bulbs with more efficient LED bulbs and save approximately $ 7 per year on energy costs per bulb installed.
o If possible, use your outdoor grill instead of your kitchen stove to avoid excessive heat build-up in your home.
o Use pool triggers to reduce your pool pump's uptime: 8 to 12 hours a day is a lot.
o Use the devices late at night.
