Clean your home for less with the best tips to cut your dirt bills

Keeping a house clean can come at a cost: an average of £ 144 per year in products.

Here is my guide to a glossy finish at no cost. . .

FULL CONKER: Forget about dirty clothes and try to clean clothes with conkers.

You need to chop and dry the conker, then put 40 g in a jug filled with 500 ml of boiling water. Leave on for 30 minutes for a thick, creamy liquid.

Sift the conkers into another jug, then let them soak for another hour, then repeat a third time.

You can use the first soaking liquid for the dirtiest of clothes, the second batch for normal washing, and the third batch for items that require light washing.

ZO GREAT: I'm a big fan of the all-purpose cleaner Zoflora. Makeup pouches can contain all kinds of bacteria, but you can fix them without spending a fortune on cleaning supplies or buying a new pouch.

Use a cloth soaked in diluted Zoflora to clean our bag regularly. You can do the same with makeup wraps too. Buy a bottle at Poundland for a pound.

WASHING: Surface cleaners can be expensive, especially if you can make your own solution.

To do this, find an old bottle of dish soap, add ten percent bleach and ten percent dish soap, and fill the rest of the bottle with water. You get a homemade surface cleaner for a fraction of the price.

Check online before using it on some surfaces as you don't want to damage anything and you will receive an expensive bill to replace it.

SCENT-SATIONAL: I love Febreeze for quick sodas. But if it costs £ 3 a bottle at Tesco, why waste the money when you can make multiple bottles cheaply?

All you need is a fabric softener and a spray bottle. Just add ten percent fabric softener to the spray bottle, fill it with water and you have your own fragrant version of Febreeze.
