Use these expert tips to clean your clothes in the spring

Are your clothes some kind of inner shed? A place where a multitude of homeless people (and the strange laundry basket) exist in ever deeper piles?

Organizing your luggage space / oversized closet / bathroom nook can seem daunting. Not only can spring cleaning be a great solution to clutter in your home, but it can also help with clutter in your head and even be a form of exercise .

We spoke to two professional organizers about how to tame your clothes and make them work for you.

Common washrooms

If you use a laundromat or shared laundry room, Pilar Llorente, a professional Marie Kondo-style organizer, recommends simply wiping your clothes.

She says you can set up an area in your bathroom to store laundry products.

Daniela Everest, professional Feng Shui organizer, suggests bringing a box where you can take everything you need to and from the washroom.

"You can buy a nice box and put things in it, or carts, there is storage space. You can say, 'This is my laundry, this tote bag.'

For cupboard laundries

Space is limited here, so avoid piling up clothes and washing yourself more often, says Pilar.

"Everything needs to be categorized," which means that related items and products are close together.

You would like to transfer your products into your own, labeled packaging that looks less messy and is more uniform in shape and size.

Have affected products ready and refill them. If you have half-used duplicates, consolidate them.

If you have products that you haven't touched in months or years, Pilar suggests asking yourself, "Will this help me make life easier? Do I really need this?"

For large laundries

With more space comes more functions and more storage space. The same ideas apply, but with a greater need to set up zones.

Pilar recommends collecting all clothing and other cleaning supplies in a separate container or basket.

Both organizers agree that you need to find the "perfect home" for each item. Therefore, it makes sense to return it after each use and to simplify the ordering process.

Keep dangerous items out of the reach of children or pets.

If you have adapters, cables, batteries, and other sundries, disconnect them and throw away what you don't use or need.

When you've done this, consider small containers to divide your drawers or boxes and label the clusters so you can easily see everything without digging.

Remember that clothing has a tendency to get wet and damp. This is therefore not always the best storage space for items other than clothing, as they can go moldy or fall apart.

Daniela recommends starting small so that cleaning doesn't get too boring. For example, one cupboard after the other.

If you can, take the time to responsibly dispose of the items you have chosen to use. Find out where to donate cleaning supplies and old clothes, or sell replacement technology.

Pilar says that unwanted items that are like "trash in your house" can be useful to others.

At the end of the day, your clothes should be clean, functional, and meaningful to you.

Stay motivated

Careful organization of a space can be a big step forward if it was previously chaotic.

Pilar and Daniela, however, it's worth it.

Before you start, have an idea of what your clothes should look like. Write it down to keep you focused. Just follow the steps, "says Daniela.

"When you're done, your brain says, 'Yes, you did it yourself, you achieved your goal! You are no longer stressed or frustrated to see it.'

Pilar says, "When you go through this process, you purify yourself, yes, but your mind begins to clear.

"When your house is nice, clean, and organized, you have clarity and can think about the important things."
